Silver Linings

Terrence Oglesby just said it perfectly on the Field of 68. This run may have been Hurley's best coaching job. Even with the 2 titles. To get this team, which played good, but never great in the tournament, to grind out Furman, UCLA, Michigan St, the miracle Duke comeback, and then another grinder against Illinois before tonight's close game.

Honestly, if, and this is a big if, we can keep everyone, we're just a few portal pieces away from being loaded for bear.

I know Demary and Mullins have NBA decisions to make, but given where they're at now and considering NIL, both of them are probably better off returning. It took all season, but I think we got glimpses of last year's Solo this weekend. He'll be better next year. Reed, Stewie...I hope they return.

Just add some size and athleticism and let's go again.

Gonna be weird as hell not seeing Alex out there.

I would agree.

Somehow, after the regular season was over, he managed to get a team loaded with poor defenders to play sterling team defense.

ESPN's way too early 2026/2027 preseason rankings

UConn #4

This is useless click bait even for ESPN. Not a single team has a clue who will be on their roster next year, let alone an entire starting 5. Pundits have no shot at knowing. Heck we don't even know which group is going to sue for extra eligibility yet

There are no silver linings. This blows. We lost the marathon on the final sprint. We will suffer as a fanbase for a week.

Also got Malachi to play well after being terrible during BE play. Was able to manage the injury to Silas. Reed was a different player. Even got something out of Solo when it seemed as if he could do nothing right.

I thought Reed is a senior.

True Story.

We gotta get a rim protector and get taller. We got beat tonight by the rim protection we used to have.

Agree with Mullins testing …

I believe with some Summer development for Reibe and 2 athletic transfers, front court could be addressed. Just with today’s landscape - UConn’s success and drive will hopeful help against higher NIL offers.

I strongly feel that Ball, Ross, Demery will be back. That’s a great core for starting 5.

Were all of the Michigan starters first year transfers? If so, that's a pretty messed up future for college basketball.

Four of five.

A huge issue for all of college sports is how to navigate a world where one or two conferences are heading towards yearly distribution of $100M per school. They're going to warp the system so badly that there will be no recognizing it. The last four schools we had to play in this tournament probably received a combined $300,000,000 in conference revenue last year....we got $8M.

I am sure that we're at the stage where one football player in the Big Ten will make more money than UConn will receive in conference revenue.

The very least he's declaring for the draft.
100%. There is likely more reason to be emotional when you aren't coming back.

UConn would be better with him back, but will be fine without him, too.

Reed is out eligibility. I guess you mean Ross?

The 4 we get in the Portal is going to be the biggest position we will need. I think it is going to be a more athletic player who can sore. Also, need an Athletic 5 to pair with Reibe.

To be fair, it was mainly due to it being Dusty's 2nd season there and most of the team being in the portal by the time he arrived at Michigan. He had no choice but to hit the portal hard these past 2 seasons to even be competitive, and he just so happened to hit the jackpot while doing so.

I think this is the third time I've seen "Reed," when it has clearly been intended to be Ross. I figure it can't be autocorrect, so I figure it's been a quirky repeated mistake. I'm hesitant to call it endearing, and yet it strikes me as such.

On a night and wee hours combo, @Fishy has shown affection for original mojo and Shabbaz & Alex, and hopefulness for the year ahead, even in the face of sober regard for a college sports landscape that seems unavoidably likely to deeply distort things ever more.

The last two weekends haven't just been one of the latest ever timelines for a UConn team to come together, but I've never seen such a level of recognition & appreciation from this forum for a team doing so. We've tipped the balance over to gratitude for what we have more so than disappointment & distaste for what have not. It might qualify as the second best a team can do, and that's the best the runner-up can do.

I feel really good about being a Husky fan right now, and tired from driving home from Indianapolis.

I think we need to do a lot in the portal. We need size and athleticism. We need guys who can attack the rim and a 5. The verdict is out on how to stop us by switching everything on the perimeter. Danny needs to reload and adjust this offseason. I also think there are just two locks to return. Everything else is fluid.

Hoping for a 5 that can start or very least push Reibe for time. And a 4 that can shoot but taller than Alex so he can play 5 in a pinch. Another PG is absolutely necessary, doubt Danny is comfortable running County out as the only other bal handler
