Petty, but hate seeing Ngongba having so much success after what he pulled with UConnView attachment 116470Silas a 9.40, so a tick below based on the current. Right there. In good company.
He's also being mocked high. I thought our chances were good given his cousin was with us. He would have been a nice get.Petty, but hate seeing Ngongba having so much success after what he pulled with UConn
He had a top 3, and then (days before announcing) issued a top 2 with UConn cut from the list. I remember Hurley posting something cryptic about it at the time implying he was irked
Question becomes if you'd rather him this year, or Tarris. Together they're redundant so unlikely we'd have bothHe's also being mocked high. I thought our chances were good given his cousin was with us. He would have been a nice get.
If using data, Ngongba is ranked the #1 center, Tarris is 8 or 9 depending on what position you slot Toppin into.Question becomes if you'd rather him this year, or Tarris. Together they're redundant so unlikely we'd have both
And some of those same people who wanted Malachi to start have no patience for him now that he's struggling.Lotsa posts from a month ago where people were calling for him to get benched in favor of Smith.
And lotsa posts from the rest of us saying, patience, grasshopper.
Fair - I find the analytics a little wonky for individual players / splitting hairs when it’s close. Safe to say we’d have been great with eitherIf using data, Ngongba is ranked the #1 center, Tarris is 8 or 9 depending on what position you slot Toppin into.
Yup I was one of those people (as I pat myself on the back).Lotsa posts from a month ago where people were calling for him to get benched in favor of Smith.

Thank you! As I was reading gtcam's post I was...Newton's first 9 games as a Husky: 11.4 PPG, 4.2 APG, 4.6 RPG, 2.4 turnovers shooting 37.5% from the field, 37.8% from three, 79.6% FT
Silas' first 9 games as a Husky: 10.4 PPG, 5.6 APG, 4.7 RPG, 1.8 turnovers shooting 51.5% from the field, 25.0% from three, 76.7% FT
Against real competition, Newton averaged 12/4.5/3.5/2.8 turnovers on 44% (Oregon/Alabama/Iowa St/OSU)
Against real competition, Silas is averaging 11/4/3.5/2 turnovers on 50% (BYU/Arizona/Illinois/Kansas)
We need to stop comparing 9-games-in Silas to 2-seasons-in Newton
Does he have a low post game or does he just catch lobs and clean up ORebs? Seems more like Samson than a Reed. If Duke could dump it down to him for a basket they wouldn’t be struggling to score outside Boozer and Evans. If using data, Ngongba is ranked the #1 center, Tarris is 8 or 9 depending on what position you slot Toppin into.
Time will tell if he graduates to the smoothness of Newton from a passing and creation perspective. He’s a far better defender, that’s for sure. Also hard to compare because Newton had so many studs around him.I love this kid. He has doubled his assists while lowering his turnovers from last year to this year. He’s an excellent defender, and his scoring will come up when he’s ready to take more shots based upon familiarity with the system. He’s way ahead of Newton at this point.
10.5 what? 7.91 is his BPR.I don't know if Tarris Reed Jr. isn't getting play because he missed games, but as of today he's at 10.5, so he'd be #4
Looking at the wrong stat. Deleted10.5 what? 7.91 is his BPR.
Castle wasn't in there at all? And look at him now. Best pro on that team. For comparison, the only guy in the top 50 for us was Sanogo at #9. The 2024 team, whew, blew the field away. Clingan at #2, Spencer #8, Newton #25, and Karaban #29
I mean, not really. Mullins hasn’t been a top 50 player in the country lolESPN has a list of the top 50 players this year. Bear, Silas and Alex made it. Amazingly, Mullins not on the list. Geez that is hard to believe.
yet he is projected to be a lottery selection. What gives?I mean, not really. Mullins hasn’t been a top 50 player in the country lol
Silas should be higher. TKR is having a bad year. Would be wild if there were 3 frosh AA first team.ESPN's midseason top 50...
