Need eyes on Capital grille tomorrow. Need to know what players are at dinner & what he orders. If he goes surf & turf, we’ve got it locked up.
we should have a mole in there.

“Things are off and running in the Silas Demary sweepstakes. The highly touted Georgia guard with two years to play has heard from many of the top schools in the country and is now headed out to take his first two visits.

Per a 247Sports source, Demary will start his week at St. John's being on campus on Monday and then is will head to see Danny Hurley and the UConn Huskies.”
Pitino looks like he smells like oyster crackers and aqua velva. And spits when he talks. Lock him up blue!!!

Not a bad breakdown

Tall guard, that is a good passer, but occasionally loose with the ball? They really do want a Tristen Newton replacement.

I would argue that the money is and should be much more important than the aesthetic appeal of the campus.
I'm talking about coaching, development, teamwork, etc. The player has to be a UConn culture guy or the whole thing fizzles (i.e. Kansas State).

So this is officially the time of year when we all decide a player very few of us watched all year is the one and only guy who can save UConn from mediocrity? Got it.

Seriously, from stats and measurables alone, he seems a good fit…but I’m sure that he’s not the one and only savior of UConn hoops. I won’t let myself get carried away with portal recruiting. If Pitino or some NIL rich program lands him, it’s just on to the next guy.

Yeah that was why I made the distinction penetrate and score at the basket.
But let's consider Liam was elite getting to the line off of his drives (he got to the line 127 times even though he lost a month of games as opposed to Karaban's 99 and Ball's 74) and converted at a rate of 86% at the line.

At the end of the portal ESPN is going to put out their list of top transfers and it's going to be the biggest names from the biggest teams and by January there's going to be a bunch of guys running college basketball and there's not going to be much overlap between the two lists. It seems like that's what's happened the past few years. I can't get really invested in any of this when (a) I've never seen most of these guys play and (b) it just seems impossible to predict who's going to blow up when they go somewhere new.

I would love a dept pg, like a backup pg from Yale or something…. Someone who won’t expect minutes but can play without throwing up if we have injuries or foul trouble
Like the kid from DePaul …Connor

Was never gonna be easy, but...

The name of the game is flexibility and the ability to pivot for the coaching staff. They already are looking for and working other types of guards in the portal. If they deem Silas Demary's asking price gets too high and/or the competition for him gets too great, they can let the other schools get into a bidding war for him and take up a lot of their resources and time and effort while Hurley and staff can go get another PG or CG with less competition for his services and at a better price.

I am still hoping for Demary, but he isn't the only one that can provide what UConn is looking for next year and what they need.

This one feels like an uphill battle. We've rarely been involved with kids drawing this kind of crowd in the portal, so will be curious to how it plays out. We can likely offer him things the others can't (having two PGs drafted last year, building up Newt to an AA), so if it's development & a showcase system, we have the advantage. If it's highest bidder or flashiest brand, likely not.

BYU has a notoriously strict honor code. Presumably they are less strict on athletes, but it's still a weird vibe.
They dismissed their leading rebounder, Brandon Davies, in early March of Jimmer's NPOY (smh) year just as they rose to #3 in the polls. They lost their next game by 18. They ended up reinstating him in the summer.

Inshallah we pull this kid, do we think Danny would target another pg as well with Nowell out? Correct me if I’m wrong more knowledgeable posters but between incoming frosh etc we have all combo guards coming in and no “pure” pg?
Did we have a pure PG the last two years? TN was more of a lead guard and shared time bringing the ball up with SC and CS.

In the event Demary goes elsewhere, is it Malachi smith or bust? Any word on Nait George?
