I'm sure he really regrets choosing SJU as it looks like it will cost him 1 year. But sitting out may not be too bad as TL is here and Tyler Phommachanh looks he may develop into a very good one.

It's almost as if the NCAA is guided by the philosophy that they should determine the morally correct outcome, and then do whatever they have to do to avoid it.

Disgusting.

When you're not a P5 school that brings a ton of $$$ to the table (thru boosters and fan support) you don't have a shot...

100% agree Hooper - no shot. For all the good things about this country, one thing that still needs significant improvement in the United States is the ability to recognize and then do away with organizations that are fraudulent or exist only to line the pockets of rich people in a position of power.

Every week now we read another story about some event or decision involving the NCAA were they make illogical, nonsensical decisions... seemingly to prove they have power and control, when really they only exercise it in cases against people (innocent kids) who don't have the power to fight back. Then, when it comes time to do the right thing in a situation that is begging for them to mete out actual punishment (North Carolina), they act like the neutered dog slinking off with its tail between its legs that they truly are.

The NCAA is one of the most pathetic, disgusting organizations in operation today. It has long outlived its usefulness, and is far more of a consistent, foul stain on college athletics than anything else.

The NCAA needs to be torn down and a new governing body put in place that creates and enforces rules that are borne out of the economic and cultural realities of the world in which we live today, and not the arcane, out-of-place rules from 30, 50 and 100 years ago.

The time has come for the federal government (and this comes from someone who usually falls on the side of less government, not more) to step in and do what that gutless piece of crap Mark Emmert and his cronies will never do - get rid of the NCAA as it currently exists, once and for all.

Emmert says the public has lost faith in the NCAA. He knows the NCAA is in trouble.

What a complete farce this is. Just like when any politician gets caught with his hand in the cooking jar, or worse, and you get the "I take full responsibility for my actions" comment. What the hell does that mean? And why all the time spent talking about the Adidas scandal and not about the UNC debacle? This guys is as empty a suit as exists in the world today. But don't worry folks, he realizes that there is a problem and he's going to look in the mirror and address it. What a frigging joke.

The NCAA is getting a lot of backlash for this decision, they are in a lose-lose situation with Sid. If they allow him to play they will certainly face backlash for being wishy-washey with their own rules, or they suspend him for the year (almost certain to happen) and have the mob grow louder.

The rule needs to be changed. It won't help Sid, but it can happen.

Never thought there was a chance of him getting a waiver. However, he'll be a perfect Larrier replacement next year.

If the kid from NC State was at Puke, Kensucky, Kansas, UNC this would have been passed and enacted on a Friday evening at 6:59PM
The NCAA is one slimy place
Losing confidence in the NCAA? More likely having NO confidence in Emmert - the guy should be behind bars or at least tied up in the middle of The Jungle on the day of the 1st snow fall with a target on his groin

The NCAA is a joke after the ruling on North Carolina years of non classes and giving them a pass and now this just tells me the NCAA is a fraud and worthless as a governing body.

Did anyone actually think he would?

No, I've rever had much hope.

However, I think the NC State situation is different, mostly because the kid was duped into staying at the school. As Parrish said, it's pretty much the clearest case for a waiver you can get. People saying "the rule is clear" are missing the point: Why have a waiver process if you won't grant one in the most extreme circumstances?

Doesn't the NCAA want to encourage student-athletes from getting ahead in their studies? No, I guess not.

Emmert putting Hathaway on that Baxketball Commission speaks volumes. They both are part of the problem not the solution.

It would only be fitting for the corrupt NCAA to have a Louisville, Miami, USC and Arizona Final4.
