Before its asked, SI All American Team does not qualify Paige for the Wall. ? Paige would have to be named on the WBCA All American Team to qualify for the Wall of Honor.

If you look at the SI list carefully, they are not announced alphabetically but in order of Merit so they would give Paige NPOY. CW "squeeks" into 3rd team.

Bueckers, Evans, Boston, Hillmon and Collier 1st Team.

Howard, Joens, Clark, Mack and Owusu on 2nd.

Nalyssa Smith, Kiana Williams, Cunane, Haley Jones and Christyn Williams, on 3rd team.

Definitely Big 12 heavy picks with Collier on 1st, and Joens and Mack on 2nd. Surprised Smith is so low on 3rd team...I think she has a good case for first team or at the very least, 2nd team. Im also surprised by the lack of Chelsea Dungee, Aari McDonald and Michaela Onyenwere.

In the SI article, they say Paige Per Her Hoop Stats, leads all of Division I in win shares (10.5),

So, perhaps some great BY'er might provide the Win Shares of all the AA candidates and perhaps a simple tutorial how it is so important in assessing true team worth

Smith/Baylor totally dominated Collier/Texas head to head twice - they didn’t necessarily guard each other a lot, but it still should have some teeth. I think points were 40-10 in Smith‘s favor combined (or something like that - Collier only had 2 points in the first game, and Smith went off for 25 on 10-13 or so in the second game). Collier’s write up focuses on a great game against North Texas.

Collier also had a lot of bad games in losses (5-20, 3-16 type games), and has 12 assists to 75 turnovers. Averaging 24 and 12 is good enough for AA, but I don’t think her body of work warrants first team.

Or as we've discussed on the 5 member AP 1st team. Although, there has never been anyone on the AP 1st that wasn't on the WBCA AA team. (at least for UCONN)

I can't explain WS without researching it but I looked at the WS stats last night on the site you name and WS is divided into offensive and defensive WS. Bueckers was 5th in the country in offensive WS and 1st in defensive WS. Her No 1 WS is the sum of her offensive & defensive WS's.

Geno is have a hard time saying she can't play defense.

Argument: should Clark in the first team?
I will vote yes.
I dont see any strong argument for Collier over Clark when you look at stats and performances against better teams.

I don't expect our own Olivia to be mentioned on these lists, but I think that her play since late January has been at an All American level.

If she does that for a full year next season, I would expect her to climb onto the Wall.

Liv needs to perform against high quality opponents to merit AA consideration.

In the 3 big games she averaged 27 minutes, scoring 5.0 points on 2-6.3 shooting, with 6.7 reb, 3.0 asst, 2.3 blks, and 1.3 TOs.
Her stat line is only marginally better than AE.

I must object to them releasing an All-American list before the season is even finished. Baylor has a top-25 matchup tonight and a whole conference tournament this week.

I'll reserve my commentary to the Big 12 picks. From what I saw, Mack and Smith both had much better seasons than Collier. It's almost as if that was decided based on expectations and projected WNBA draft position rather than the play on the floor. Joens always struck me as more of a volume shooter, but she got the the line a lot and had some big games.

Here are the results of PER, a pretty good stat:

PER>26 (5 players) Hillman (31.97), Mack (29.87), Clark (29.14), Cunane(27.35), Jones (26.14)
PER 23-25 (6 players) Bueckers (24.77), Collier (24.61), Smith (24.26), Boston (24.13), Howard (23.94), Owusu (23.47)
PER 15-19 (4 players) Evans (19.35), Jones (19.24), Williams-Uconn (15.81), Williams-Stanford (14.49)

Evans should not be on the 1st team. Put Clark on 1st and Evans on third team. Move Smith to 2nd team. Mack should replace Boston or Collier.

Shouldn't that apply to Collier also?

I would think both Stanford and UConn fans would say that Hayley Jones and Christyn Williams have had...underwhelming seasons. I guess they figured they should put a second player on from the top two teams in the nation, but I think others people have mentioned (Dungee, Rennia, A McDonald, Onyenwere, NDea Jones, Guirantes) are more deserving.

To close the loop on this and the Wooden award, here are two Wooden candidates not on the AA team:

Dungee: (20.14), Guirantes (21.35)

Could certainly have been on 3rd team, but there are a lot of players in this bracket.

However, Wooden Award? I don't think so. Add Clark and Smith and all would have been good.

I expect Aaliyah to surpass Liv next year (tbh, I think she already has)

Collier's numbers are significantly higher. She averages 20.9 points/12.2 rebounds. ONO averages 12.8 points/7.8 rebounds.

Collier also had a somewhat respectable showing vs. Texas A&M, putting up 14/12. She also had a standout game going up against Natasha Mack who is likely a top 5 draft pick. Her 2 clunkers were vs Baylor who is one of the best defensive teams in the country. ONO can dominate against undersized posts but hasn't shown she can score against posts her size.

All that said, I'd personally put Collier on 3rd team and move up Clark or Owusu who have played phenomenally all season.
