1. The Defense. It's too easy to assume they are going to be good. Don Brown has done a great job of putting the players he has in position to excel. And they do a great job of it every week. Trevardo, Sio, Yawin and Blidi were awesome throughout. Key plays made by Johnson, Willman, Pruitt, Campenni and many others.
2. Chad Christen. He totally redeemed himself from the Temple disaster. He lost us that game and he won us this game. Less than 10% of the kickers in the NCAA make all of the FG's today considering weather conditions and game situations. Ice in his veins, they were all striped down the center of the crossbars.
3. OLine run blocking. This is what us Uconn fans have come to expect from our OLine. Pass blocking was still average at best, but they opened up huge holes for the run game.
4. Cole Wagner. Consistently very good to great all game. Should have been a 15 yarders for roughing the kicker.
Areas That Are Still Really, Really, Really Way Below BCS Standards
1. Offfensive consitency. The WR's in the first half were brutal. Dropped passes all over the place. Play calling was actually very good. Second half, play calling went to and the players stayed at a crappy level. Completely unacceptable for a BCS team. GDL must go. The defensive players are literally getting hurt due to the offense's ineptness.
2 Return game. Both the KO and Punt return blocking and Nick Williams' hesistations yielded horrible results.
3. Refs. Much easier to cry sour grapes when you win. The non-call on the helmet to helmet hit on Whitmer was inexcusable. That is the referee's job when the ball goes live. Doubly bad considering he butchered the horse collar call against Sio in the first half. The out of bounds ball that was called a catch for Louisville was inexcusable. The Replay ref gets an F too. The non-call against L'ville for offsides, especially considering they threw the flag initially was horrible. I think we caught a break on the incomplete pass call in OT, but Uconn took it in the shitttterrr on at least 6 calls this game.
