He's more than just a tremendously impactful basketball player, he has become the face of the program and the state. It hard to even think about the Huskies without seeing the seven foot, three inch, unicorn from Bristol. His impact on the team, the university and the state has been huge. I think it is an honor well deserved.

I understand the sentimental feelings but let’s focus on this season and focus on Marquette. Why must we always talk about the future and never the present.
There is a time for everything this is not the time to retire lingons number. So yes I agree with you.

I get it. You're excited.

Love DC, but he has played a fraction of the minutes over his entire UConn career than someone like Kemba or Shabazz played in individual seasons.

Let’s just enjoy Clingan and appreciate his incredible contribution to this program.

Everyone with more Championships than Boeheim should have their number retired.
The guy is a legend.

Rip Hamilton had to wait 25 years but this guy gets a few layups and blocks one shots with his forehead and gets a banner?

If Clingan keeps playing like he did today (especially the passing) his draft stock will soar. Top 5 or higher won't be out of the question, he looked special today.

I’m really disappointed you didn’t even respond to my request to put something behind your dumb prediction about today.

Live back in the past with the guys who played for us, and enjoy the moment with guys that are currently playing for us.

If any player from the last two seasons gets his jersey retired it should be newton, he holds the school triple double record, he was the national title game player of the game, player of the year candidate for this season, if they win a National Title this year I don't think it's a question that his number would end up getting retired assuming he has a good NBA career

This talk of retiring numbers has become very annoying of late, it’s an akin to the GOAT conversation. The obsession about it is for dorks, just my opinion.

Which is why I'm pretty sure the OP was in jest.

We wouldn't have any numbers left for current players.
