The comparison of Kaleena and Maggie Lucas as shooters is very interesting in a quirky way. Both have taken 110 3s on the year. Maggie has made 2 more than Kaleena, 56 to 54 %s of .509 to .491. Both are shooting .882 from the foul line although Maggie gets to the line 3x as often as Kaleena.

Both are likely in the 99 percentile of shooting performance and playing very near the real world limits of performance.

It's a fairly valid comparison, with the SOS of Penn State currently ranked #11 to UConn's #2. The free throw percentage being the same is just eerie...

They are two of the best shooters in a while.

Some more stats:

Stat/Kaleena/Maggie

Min. 28.9 / 33.7

FG% .533 / .439

3Pt% .491 / .509

FT% .882 / .882

Rpg 5.5 / 4.3

Assists 38 / 43

TO 24 / 49

Stl 30 / 45

Blk 3 / 9

Ppg. 17.3 / 20.1

Ppm. .5986 / .5964

Maggie plays more minutes, as she is needed more. Kaleena shoots much better inside the arc. Kaleena leads in rebounds, especially per minute. Maggie has a few more assists, but twice as many TOs. Maggie has more steals and blocks, interestingly. Both score almost 0.6 point per minute, or 24 points per 40 mins.

They list Maggie at 5'10 but I think she is more 5'8". She has the propensity this year of driving into the lane with no plan. It is an attempt to keep teams from guarding her too close on the perimeter but is, also, what results in all those TOs and lower shooting % on 2s.

It's also probably why she gets to the FT line 3x as often as KML. That's a significant differential.

It is indeed. But those FTs come at a heavy price in TOs and missed shots.
