Shoni Schimmel (personal issues) taking season off

NEW YORK -- New York Liberty guard Shoni Schimmel will take the upcoming WNBA season off to deal with "personal issues" and hopes to return next year.

The Liberty and Schimmel released a joint statement on Saturday. Schimmel, who sustained a concussion at the end of last season, missed the start of training camp last week.

If she could get her diet and fitness down like Maya and Skylar she could be one of the biggest stars of the league. She could have her own "shoe" like the NBA guys and get a bunch of other endorsements. She has a Native American following of several hundred thousand fans (at least).

She can be a pretty flamboyant player but I think she just needs to get on the right team.
