Sheryl Swoopes as Coach

Some background to Loyola of Chicago's win over Depaul: although they're only 3-7, they've played Northwestern, Miami, Depaul, Michigan State, Green Bay and Georgia Tech. Quite an ambitious schedule for a team from the MVC. It will be interesting to see how they fare in the MVC and to follow Coach Swoopes career. Also interesting was that they lost to DePaul 109-84 last year and lost to Michigan State last year by 90-38 but by only 76-47 this year. If Swoopes is successful I don't expect her to stay at Loyola, but it looks as if she is building a program.

If nothing else, she has incredible name recognition and very likely to find her name among HOF nominees in February on her way to an all but certain first ballot induction.

My first thought on this info (esp. the schedule) is that Loyola playing a tough schedule gets you ready to win tough games--ala DePaul! Let's see how this all works out for Maryland and their schedule.
