...with 18 seconds left in the game. She was down on the court for a while and walked to the locker room. I'm sure an MRI will occur quickly.

Thanks, Nan, I had no idea who she was. I had to google her. I think sometimes ETT thinks we know everything about Texas. A little definition and more information helps. Lot's know the teams and key players and a good deal of basketball but don't follow in that kind of detail.

I'll make sure that I provide more details in the future for those who are less knowledgeable. It is correct that I made an assumption of the overall knowledge of most posters on this board when I started the thread. She has been discussed on this board before so that added to my assumption.

For those not in the know: Shanay Washington is a Baylor guard who has already had four ACL surgeries (two on each knee). Her struggle has been pretty well documented and most serious followers of women's basketball know her story.

Probably in Texas but but I'm a fairly informed WCBB fan and I honestly had no clue. I did take the time to look it up and her story is compelling. All of the best wishes to her. I appreciate Nan taking the time to make a link which I was going to do after I Googled it. ETT we just don't get much Baylor or Big 12 news here in PA or I suspect most of the east. Big East, ACC, even Big Ten and SEC but not much Big 12 or PAC 10.

I am glad to help enlighten you. Leave it to a Texan to have to educate those in the NE. (-:

Don't sweat it ETT. Google is an easy way to get info as everyone knows. Just as easy as posting "Who".

ETT, I believe Coach Mulkey calls Washington "Nay-Nay" when she discusses her in the post game pressers. Maybe ice is more familiar with her nickname.

poor kid. she only played 10 games this year. was she injured early in the year? coming back from her previous ACL? i gotta say - 4 ACL's and this possibly her 5th, in a way, i hope she doesn't come back for the sake of her health (if this is indeed her 5th ACL). either way i'm sure she'll do what's best for her. best wishes that it's nothing serious...

Kemetria Hayden is known as Nay Nay, not Shanay.

Nope, I had no knowledge of this kid at all. As I said when I looked her up it was a compelling story and one can only wish the kid the best.

These were the two articles I found the second was the one Nan posted. LINK1 LINK 2

It was reported that she was crying and saying "it's over," so I feel confident that this is the end of the road for her.

It is a shame. She was highly ranked coming out of high school (ranked number 5 by AllStar Girls) and started 32 games her freshman year, including the game against UCONN in the Final Four.

2009 CLASS

ugh. that's heartbreaking for any kid. kids like Kiersten Walters, Nicole Wolff, Morgan Valley, Caroline Doty, Vicki Baugh, and Shanay now - all kids with lots of promise who had injuries or physical issues that prevented them from achieving the promise they all showed early on. i'm sure there are other players too, who were highly regarded in high school, who had injuries derail their promising college careers.

Here is current info LINK

16.5 seconds left in the game. Horrible.

It is a horrible injury in women's basketball.
