Stumbled upon this video, uploaded yesterday, compiling all the baskets scored by Ashlynn “Slim” Shade to date ~ it’s a fun opportunity to observe the consistency of her shooting mechanics, footwork, body control, and manner in which she doesn’t force shots but takes them within the flow of the offense from locations that suit her range. She’s also precise with her cuts, and when attacking, has a good feel for when to pull-up and when to go to the rim. A good watch ahead of today’s game. Go Huskies!

Wow, great film that highlights what a find she’s been for us. She seems to be fundamentally solid in virtually all aspects of the game. Credit to her father, her earlier coaches and (mostly) Ashlynn herself for putting in the long hours required to become this fundamentally sound! Players like this are highly sought after by coaches as they are able to rely on them to do their job with a minimum of fuss and bother! Geno can rely on her to do her job competently for the next three years! What a luxury!:)

My fear is that some refs may start calling traveling on her. Often when she catches the ball, she takes a step and hops, similar to what KLS did. However, if that happens, she will surely adjust.

Ashlynn is destined to become on Uconn wall of Honor. She is about the best controlled player I have seen. In all aspects of the game Ashlynn excels and there is nothing she can do but get better and better with every game she will start in from now on.With Geno's coaching she will become a name Uconn will long remember. There is no down side to Ashlynn. GO ASHLYNN!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!

Thanks for the highlights. Yes, Ashlynn lets the game come to her and that is what I love about her game. She isn't out there forcing shots. She plays within the offense, and she is not afraid to put the ball on the deck and drive. She has a decent stop and pop game as well. Her, Paige, and Azzi have that skill down pat! Ashlynn is a joy to watch out there playing.

Yup. We (Minnesota High School) just had our officials meeting and it was an eye opener. We have allowed so many things to happen over the years, the spin move and carrying the ball are great examples, that it is going to be tough to bring some spirit of the rules back to game.
