You could argue Shabazz is the best UConn shooter ever when it comes to hitting high degree-of-difficulty shots. I know we've had better pure spot-up shooters (Rip/Ray), but has there been a player here who's hit more TOUGH shots than Shabazz? I don't think so. He redefined my thoughts of what a 'good' shot is when he's taking it.
The kid has shown he can hit every tough shot in the game. Fadeaways, step-backs, deep threes, contested threes, off-balance pull-up threes. He has a ridiculous ability to pump-fake, pause, gather himself, and then shoot again from the same spot and hit the shot. That's SO tough to do. Doesn't matter how well you guard him, because he is smart and shifty enough to create space and get a shot away. And he hits them at a remarkably high rate. This amazing ability of his compensates for his height deficiencies.
Gonna miss this kid immensely. I have no doubts we will be watching him play in the league for years to come.
