Shabazz doubtful for tonight

Good
How the do you know what his injury is? I see that he is playing, and believe me, I have more faith in him that he knows when he just can't go than I do in someone who thinks guys should play on 2 broken legs. The dumbest notion in all of sports.

I don't care how they spin it, this was an unofficial benching for his postgame comments. Does he look injured to you?

Umm ABSOLUTELY.

He looks about 3 steps slower than he was compared to last game. He actually looked quicker last game than before and I thought he was finally getting 100%. I guess he tweaked it again. The announcing crew did say he has been battling this injury all year.

Relax man. If he is seriously injured then obviously he shouldn't play. My point is simply if he is banged up, but could give it a go he should and he did. I think it is important that he did, particularly because of his comments.

And to add to that, JC (and coaching staff) has always been transparent with benching. Case in point, Roscoe earlier this year for missing class.

Regardless of the outcome tonight I respect Bazz gutting through his pain. Not that it "should" matter, but given his recent comments, his actions tonight do matter.

He may not be a lot of the things that we wish he were, but he absolutely is a warrior.

He missed practice yesterday because of the injury. Do you really think a struggling team would have their starting PG sit out from practice before a big game for PR reasons?

Honestly, this season nothing surprises me.

I came to post the exact same thing, he looks like Shabazz prior to the last 3 games, slow and not able to get by his man.

He couldn't create any separation, and so the offense was worse than usual.

But you can't be too sad with a shot like that.

Can't undersell that shot enough but I'm concerned about how he looked after the way he was moving the prior 3 games. We're not beating Syr with him being that slow and unable to penetrate and push the ball.

Fortunately he will have some time to rest before Syracuse Saturday.

Glad the kid hit that shot. The problem with playing through pain is that while sometimes the injured part can't be hurt any worse, some players definitely are tempted (pushed?) to play when they shouldn't, the macho thing, and the result is often that the player is less effective than a replacement might be, or aggravates a problem that instead of costing the player one game, costs the player an unknown number of games beyond the one or two that might have been missed.

Of course, in pro sports, we have the modern phenomenon that the higher the player is paid, the less pain they are asked to play through because they are investments and not athletes. It is, of course, an upside down idea. You would think that the more a player is paid, the more would be demanded of them. Mickey Mantle would scarcely be seen on the field in modern baseball he was so banged up.
