Interesting evaluations. Can't say I disagree with a lot of their points. Daniels seems like a longer shot than bazz with his handle and D, and overall strength.

If I'm OKC, I draft Bazz as a backup/replacement for Westbrook.

Right there with you. Westbrook isn't and never will be a real PG. Having Bazz being his Boatright could open up some serious offense

Lol Westbrook is an all nbaer how the hell could napier replace him ?
Dunno if this was mentioned but ollie advised against Daniels decision . I tend to agree with KO, DD could get lost in the pack here and slip .

I think OKC is happy with Mr. October as backup PG.

Was that in the video (which I have admittedly not watched)? Where did you see that?

Wow, I wonder who was in DD's ear that caused him to go against the advice of a man with 15 years' worth of experience and connections in the NBA.

I really hope he goes in the first round; otherwise, it'll be obvious that he made a bad choice and did himself and our program a disservice.

Wait, so KO is advising kids to stay in school when their draft position is uncertain or could improve and yet anyone who makes that case on a message board is vilified?! I suppose some would argue that KO has more reason to be selfish and want kids to stick around than fans do. I'd counter that it is in his best interests to have kids go when they are ready and KO reaps more recruiting long term benefits from successful track record of producing first round picks and launching successful NBA careers.

I think because Boatright came back most UConn fans including myself were willing to accept losing DD. But if KO advised against it that changes the landscape AND makes me nervous that DD is very likely a 2nd rounder.

OKC already has a replacement/backup in Reggie Jackson. Miami has Norris Cole and Chalmers. I'd rather Shabazz go to the Celtics at 17 to be Rondos replacement or to Houston at 25. They need a PG who can really run that team with so many offensive weapons. The Spurs would be another great landing spot.

Daniels raised a few eyebrows when he announced on April 25 that he would bypass his final year at UConn and enter the NBA draft. People close to the program have said Ollie recommended Daniels return for his senior year, but supported the decision once it was made. Daniels spent time with his family following the Huskies' national championship and decided it was time to move on.

Chalmers is a free agent, he's making $4M in his last year and on the open market you figure he will make more than that. Assuming the big 3 opt in for the remainder of their contracts, the Heat need to go cheap to fill out the remainder of their roster like they've been doing, they might not be able to afford Chalmers. Bringing in a rookie on a cheap deal makes sense. Considering Bron is basically the de facto PG they need another spot up shooter to surround him and run PG when he gets rest, Bazz would kill in that role.

Hopefully a GM.

Did our program a disservice? Really? Why does he owe us any more than he's already given?

OKC is all set at guard (assuming they don't do anything drastic over the off-season) with Westbrook, Lamb, and Jackson. I don't really see any room for Napier there, and if OKC is going to upgrade, I suspect they'll be looking to address the situation on the wing with Sefolosha and Butler - those two just aren't getting it done.

I'm surprised people haven't mentioned Memphis and Indiana as potential landing spots for Shabazz. To me, that would be ideal. Both are short on depth in the back court, have willing passers and pick and roll partners in the front court, and are well-coached. And if he goes to Indiana, there is a very real chance he could take George Hill's job.

Would we be a better team next year with or without him?

My comment had nothing to do with "owe".

When you say "disservice to the program", that's heavy-handed language well beyond "hurts next year's team". Two different things. The first is far more scolding in nature.

Oh right. Well y'all wouldn't think that Cole would step into that starting role since he's been growing with the organization already and has played really well during his career? I still believe Houston is the best landing spot for him. They need a solid steady pg who can run the show and he'd fit right in in their run and gun offense with plenty of weapons for him to pass it too. I can definitely see Shabazz getting Houston over the hump to make a deeper run in the playoffs with him and Harden making a deadly one two backcourt punch.

its not about Bazz starting right now, the Heat would still need another PG if Chalmers leaves. Cole was a late first round pick himself who quickly became their backup PG and now looks like their potential starter, that is the type of progession we would like to see from Bazz.

My thing is does he need that? Is he not nba ready already with his handle, decision making, and shot-making ability? He's 22 years old so I don't think much more progression is needed. I'd rather see him come in and be on the all rookie first team in a starting role.
