No. He did not jump up on the close out and wind up landing near the shooter and giving them 3 foul shots. He was too far away to block the shot and knew it. This is an improvement for him and us.
He should have put his hand up to distract the shooter.

You honestly think Jayden made that drive knowing Liam was going to cut to the basket when he did? If that was the case, great, but it looked to me like Jayden was out of control and got bailed out. Regardless, why do you need to make it into a personal attack on my hoops fandom? Be a better human being.

So yes I do. He's done it earlier in this season, Solo's done it many times this season. Some of our other players have, as well.

It's clear that the drive to the baseline, and pass while going out of bounds is a set "thing"

Have you ever watched Creighton's offense? They do that motion in their sets all the time...dribble drive to the baseline, get airborne, while either passing to the opposite wing or to a cutter coming down the lane.

I agree it's a "higher risk" move, but it wasn't random and it wasn't a complete luck-based bail-out.

The fact that you immediately came to that conclusion about Ross shows your bias and also shows you don't pay as much to modern offensive sets as you should. Thus the "be a better fan" comment. Cheers!

Not sure about seeing him as a shooter in the NCAA tourney. A little too late for that but like Lively he just needs to be active near the hoops with NBA athleticism and not show lack of strength by moving his feet which he has done better this year on D.
If Samson fires of his first 3 pointer of the season in the postseason, something has gone very wrong. Also, love what he has been for this program but he is a LONG way from an NBA player (he’ll definitely make some money playing ball somewhere though).

I'm not saying that Hurley is going to change the way he plays, but damn that's a nice looking shot from behind the 3pt line (at the 1:49 mark) coming out of high school. Can you imagine the nightmare other coaches will have to face. Even if he takes that jumper at the foul line instead of handing off all the time, its that time of the season. Let him loose.

Yeah, it's somewhat risky, but it opens the court and your passing lane considerably, and it buys you nearly a second to look, evaluate and decide. OOB is option1. Then there is whatever opens up.

Any idea why Fox has not posted the replay?
Because the game started late that probably meant they don’t have one cut of the whole game that made it to tv. I’ve seen this happen before and usually is rectified when it reairs at 2 AM and they just use that version but this game is not planned to reair so they may just whiff

I like you but that was absolutely not a set play for Ross, this is crazy. He did a great job of making it work, but it was poor decision making that put him in that spot

He’s 1/9 in his career (0/0 this year) and his form has looked… less impressive than his high school tape. I fully agree that if his skill set included a 3 point shot that opposing coaches had to respect, that would be huge for him and the team. But at this point, his skill set does not include that.

Imo, it's like riding a bike. The skill set is there however it's not being used for whatever reason. If you look at his free throws he got the form hence NBA or Euro ball would show case that in some way.

I seem to to remember back a few years when he finally was getting some PT after I think coming off some sort of injury, Hurley saying he was an outside threat and Samson taking some 3s, though missing most of them. It looked like he was going to be a hybrid type forward and not a center.

The the past 2 seasons he was pegged just as a 5. To his credit, he's been an amazing team player doing what the staff has asked of him. His body type simply won't play as an NBA 5 and with little to no midrange Js and ability to dribble in traffic, he's not shown much for even an NBA 4.

He'd have to show the ability the dribble drive and knock down Js to get a sniff of the NBA. Only dunking at the rim just isn't enough. He'll likely earn some money overseas though.

It is one of the things he does regularly
...and seemingly to emphasize a contrarian dimension that isn't really necessary, as though he'd rather project a provocative persona than contribute to the team's success. I suppose it's a chosen angle or entry point, but it strikes me as an intentional self-compromise.

Look at guys in the league like Daniel Gafford, Jaxon Hayes, Dereck Lively. These guys only purpose on offense is to catch lobs. Will Samson make it in the league idk but his skill set of catching lobs, blocks, and running the floor all play imo he just doesn’t have the strength

There is never ever a reason to not at least make a token show at challenging a shot by at least putting a hand up. This team does challenge shots which did make this no challenge stand out so much.
