Seton Hall coming to Hartford for midday match up with the Huskies

Next up - The Seton Hall Pirates. The UConn women's basketball team (8-0) return to the XL Center to host Seton Hall (7-1) Saturday at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast on SNY and the UConn/IMG Sports Network.

The Huskies will host their annual Toys for Tots drive vs. the Pirates. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, wrapped toy, which can be donated at the Atrium entrance. Saturday is also Connecticut Day. Fans can purchase tickets to UConn's final home game of 2018 beginning at just $10.


The Huskies and Pirates played their first game on Dec. 23, 1978, and played as league rivals from 1982 through 2013. Seton Hall won the first six of the series, but UConn dominated the final three decades to take a 49-10 advantage. The Huskies' 29-game winning streak against the Pirates is the longest against any opponent in school history and they've also won 44 of the last 45 games. Auriemma owns a 46-2 record against Seton Hall.

This season, Shadeen Samuels leads Seton Hall with 17.0 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game. The Pirates are coming off a 90-47 win over Saint Peter's and their only loss of the season came to UCLA.

  • The Pirates are off to a 7-1 start and close non-conference play with three-straight away from home
  • Saturday will mark the first time The Hall has faced the No. 1 team in the nation since 2011
  • Seton Hall is top-15 nationally in scoring, assists, 3-pointers made, steals, turnover margin and turnovers forced
  • Nicole Jimenez (Miami, Fla.) is coming off a career-high 33 points and program-record nine 3-pointers on Sunday
  • Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) ranks top-five in the BIG EAST in points (17.0/g), rebounds (9.4/g) and field goal percentage (57.0)
  • On the year, Samuels, Jimenez (12.0 ppg) and Victoria Cardaci (10.3 ppg) all average double-figures.

Doing a little scouting on Jiminez and SH. Boy are they feisty. Last game against St Peters, Jiminzez besides her 9 3pt shots had 9 steals.
