Serious question. How long does Hurley get?0

Serious question: Who is going to remember to bump this in a few years when Hurely is kicking butt and taking names?

Serious question: Who is going to remember to bump this in a few years when Hurely is kicking butt and taking names?
Serious answer: Hurley and his coaching staff are already kicking butt and taking names. In the time span of about 1 year and a half Hurley has completely turned this program around and continues to aggressively improve it. The timing for pulling the trigger on the coaching change was very good; can you imagine how much further we would have fallen with a 3rd terrible year under KO? Hurley has resurrected this program and we are rising fast. The move next year to the Big East is huge step in the right direction.

Watch how good we are this year; how hard this team plays, with veteran leadership and players, excellent depth, and the influx of talented recruits, who came here because of HURLEY, his 2nd to none top rated coaching staff, and the promise that UConn will again contend among the nation's elite.

Beast of the East, again, remember that? In the next few years we will own the northeast. Sitting up on the high shoulder of New York City, Jersey, and the northern mid-Atlantic states, we will again dominate college basketball.

Hurley's 2nd season. Watch how good we are.

Dave Dombrowski Red Sox GM won a World Series last year. He just got fired last night.
A little different because the Sox keep hiring specialist type GMs (Cherrington - Rebuild, Dombrowski - Win Now, next one will have to build again)

Dombrowski is still a good GM just not right for them where they’re at. The farm is dry and the payroll is high, time to restock the farm and get creative. Chaim Bloom from the Rays would make sense.

I was talking to someone at the football game on Saturday and it got me thinking. This will be Year 2 of the Hurley regime. If we are not a tourney team by next year does he get another? The guy was saying Edsall is in year 3 and hasn’t turned the program around yet. My view was given the mess he needs at least until 2020. But football was A. a total disaster and B. Harder to turn around. Basketball programs can go from eh to wow in one year. By next year Hurley will have had 3. Does he need to deliver something serious by then? Does he need to do it this year?
Wow I have seen many, many really stupid questions posted on the boneyard over the years. This has to be at the top of the list of stupid questions. Coach Hurley just brought in a top recruiting class in basically his first year. Give him a chance and keep your mouth shut while he builds a winning team.

I'm thinking you don't what dysfunctional means. Four rings for a franchise that hadn't won in 86 years. Then they did it all over again at Liverpool.

Four managers and soon to be 4 GMs in less than a decade...

And scorched earth with a lot of those. Can't forgive the Tito drug addict thing.

Contrast that to the Yanks. Two managers and 1 GM in a decade. How many rings? Less than 2.

Successfully dysfunctional is still dysfunctional

Of course it's also successful, which is kind of the whole point right?

They also have 3 losing seasons during that time too. And we’re beyond lucky to get bailed out by a haileys comet level trade of stupidity from LAD.

One of those losing season was due to the idiotic decision to hire Bobby Valentine (thanks Lucchino!). That was the definition of dysfunctional.

If UConn wins a national championship in 2020 was it worth the last 3 years?

Probably is regardless because of the one we won in 2014.

I remember when the Sox had two decades in a row of winning seasons with no rings. I prefer the rings.

I'm not sure I understand why this question gets so many people riled up. It doesn't read like "how many years do we go until we fire this guy?". To me, it's legitimate to wonder how long it might take to turn the program around. I see people saying 5 years, 6 years, and that's too long. By the third year of a coach's tenure you should have a real good idea if you have the right guy. We're not talking about winning championships or anything, just fielding a good team that is going to play in the postseason. The early signs look good and we'll see what happens.
