Outstanding in-depth story! Now I am REALLY pumped to have Serah as a member of our team :) - amazing person and player!!

Thanks for sharing that article, @dr. uconn ! I'm glad to have Maggie Vanoni on the UConn beat! Serah doesn't seem to seek the limelight, so I haven't found it easy to learn too much about her. It was great to piece together some of her backstory. The stories her Canada Elite coach shared about her kindness when he and his wife lost their pregnancy and her teammate was injured after a collision in practice speak highly of her character.
 
Thanks @dr.uconn and congrats to Maggie on another great write-up. What is special about this is after reading you really feel like you know Serah.

(Like all BY'ers, can't wait for the first home game. Besides all the newcomers, it will be pretty special when Serah gets introduced at Gampel and hears the welcoming applause from the UConn student section and packed house.)
 
I look forward to hearing her perspective once she's played for us a little bit. The packed arenas and an deeply involved fan base are probably going to be new to her. I enjoy hearing an outsiders "inside" perspective on the. UConn program.

“Everyone's vibe, like the players’ vibe, was really good, like their personalities were good. They were friendly. They welcomed me really well, the coaching staff as well,” Williams said. “Obviously we know who UConn is and, like, what they do. That's like a no-brainer, like, you can Google that, but just really getting to know the people and the environment in which I was going to be around, that was a big stand-out for me. …. It felt right.”

And glad to see she will be here for the summer session!

Williams will arrive in Storrs late next week when UConn returns to campus to begin summer workouts. She’ll make her official Husky debut on Nov. 4 when the team kicks off the 2025-26 season against Louisville in Germany. As of right now, she’s still figuring out her academic plan but intends on finishing her pre-requisites for nursing school – when basketball is over, she has goals of being a labor and delivery nurse. Williams said as of now, she plans to declare for the WNBA after next season.

Reading this and some of our comments above, what popped into my head was Secretariat's groom Eddie Sweat shouting into the night sky the night before the Derby: "And you about to see something that you ain't never even seen before!"

An edit a day later: Sitting over morning coffee reviewing this thread I suddenly remembered how for a time, maybe a decade, but a while ago, recruits would be asked the inevitable why UConn question and a surprising number would say words to this effect: It's hard to say. Obviously its a great program. I knew that before I visited. But on the visit I just knew it was right for me.

@BRS24, thank you so much for this free gift. It was well written, well read, and the information digested. Thanks to Maggie for her in-depth research and writing about Serah Williams’ path to the WCBB scene, and now as she joins the Huskies for her final year. I believe she’s a great asset to the team, will work hard alongside her teammates, and will eventually experience the sounds, sights, and pleasures of the NCAAs.

I saw several of Serah's games and she was always one of the top players in the game!
She never had much support that's where UConn will be different with all these great players!
She'll be a big piece to the puzzle this season!
IMHO she could be an All-American!

We always appear to like the shiny new toy best, at least for a while. But I am so looking forward to the freshman integrating with our National Champions. I know our two transfers are going to be great additions.

BTW: I do wonder just a little bit by Serah's quote that "as of now" she plans to declare for the WNBA
draft after the coming season. Might that be an occupational reason...or a basketball reason?
