Legitimately not going to move from my couch on September 3

Saturday, Sept 3

Georgia Tech vs. Boston College (at Ireland) – 7:30am, ESPN2
Oklahoma vs. Houston (at NRG Stadium) – Noon, ABC
Hawaii at Michigan – Noon, ESPN
LSU vs. Wisconsin (at Lambeau Field) – 3:30pm, ABC
Georgia vs. North Carolina (at Atlanta, GA) – 5:30pm, ESPN
USC vs. Alabama (at Arlington, TX) – 8pm, ABC
Clemson at Auburn – 9pm, ESPN

Sunday, Sept 4
Notre Dame at Texas – 7:30pm, ABC

Monday, Sept 5
Ole Miss vs. No. 4 Florida State (Orlando, FL) – 8pm, ESPN

This doesn't even include games such as:

Arizona @ BYU
Missouri @ West Virginia
UCLA vs Texas A&M

Very nice line-up. I'll be in State College that weekend visiting family and I'm trying to make it to the Penn State/Kent State game. The WatchESPN app will surely be making an appearance.

EDIT: Just realized that's gonna be 2 football games in 3 days for me :D

Unless we are playing on opening Saturday, it is not the best ever. ;) I can't wait for the day we have a season opener worthy of a Saturday. "That would be the best Jerry...the best" :D

BC...what a joke. Gonna get embarrassed in front of their relatives. That's if any bother to show up.

I have a friend who hasn't missed a beagles game in 10 years or so...he's sitting this one out. "No sense traveling to Ireland to watch them get crushed." He is also skipping a couple of other road games this year. I can't imagine what the casual fans are doing.

I also agree on college games in NFL stadiums/neutral sites. It is a crappy idea. Misses the whole point.

Just wait until we play the ConFLiCT on opening Saturday next fall.. :p

I'll go for cheap, gratuitous likes.

Best opening day will be the first time UConn opens the season in a P5 conference.

that. Unless we are in a P5 I will not watch any game on abc or ESPx in which we are not playing. Sept 3rd should be a great day to be outside.

The men in charge of deciding which games you’ll get to view on what days and which times they’ll fall don’t simply pull out a calendar and slap a few names in there. It takes planning, teamwork and a lot of long hours.

Nick Dawson, vice president of programming and acquisitions, and Kurt Dargis, director of programming and acquisitions, are the two lucky people at ESPN who are blessed with such a daunting task.

“This is the strongest slate of games we’ve ever had on the opening weekend of the season,” Dawson said in an exclusive phone interview. “We really approached this weekend as kind of a five-day festival of college football.”

We think it’s really important that the sport launches in a meaningful way given that this is the one weekend of the year where we don’t have NFL competition.”

And if by meaningful Dawson means premier matchups, that’s exactly what fans will get. Here’s a quick view of some of the best games that are in store for the long weekend of college football.

College football’s ‘best opening week ever’ no easy task for ESPN
