Senhor Testiculo Nominations - USF Game

Boat was the key to the team coming to life but then had an awful turnover during winning time, Bazz finished USF off but Gif was had the most consistent play throughout the game. My vote is for Boat

.-.
Boat turned the game around on a day he was struggling. That 18-0 run was an awful lot of Boatright (11 points and a kickout to Giff for a 3 that started it). Took balls to step up there. Plus the second time he fed Giffey for a 3 w two minutes to go, he was pumped as hell as he high-fived him - thereby forever putting to rest the theory that he doesn't like to pass to white guys. And he didn't punch he ref hat called him for a foul. Restraint takes balls.

But I also think in the spirit of the award, Bazz hit the ballsiest shots at the end - the two lefty drives and the 3 that stuck the knife in. All balls.

Perhaps our two guards can split a sack - the theme was how they were both struggling when we were down nine, and they both turned it around.

The zone defense.

I actually thought KO pulled us out too early. We played it 2 possessions got the lead to 9 and took it off,

Giff. Some big boards and shots. And a key block. Nice to see Bazz come up big in the clutch again too.

We wouldn't have been in the game without Giffey. He was the only one who could make a shot in the first half.

Giff. Samuel played great but Giff was in for longer and more effective IMHO...

Considering there is a lot of love for both Terrence and Giff can we just give the sack to their backdoor play?

...that sounds wrong. Nevermind.

He made one shot in the first half. He was 1-2. I remember because I was ticked at him for not taking the open look at the end of the half and then Omar had to take it near the end of the shot clock instead, thereby getting criticism from folks at the half. Thought Giffey needed to man up and take that shot, so I checked the stats.

He played well in the second half, though - guarded a lot of guys very well and hit a couple open looks at key times, starting the 18-0 run - and the one to put us up six might have been his first career late-game dagger.

Well there are 2 balls, give them one each.

T sam no contest. He was responsible for 6 straight points when we desperately needed them.

Agreed. It actually accounted for a majority of that 18-0 run and then we abandoned it.

TS without his defense and energy we don't win this game. Please, no more OC this year!

Sorry, I was wrong. He was 2-3 at the half. Must have looked at the wrong player when I saw 1-2.

Niels Samuel
or Terrance Giffey.

Both played hard and forced the pace of the game while they were in there. Giffey had some tough boards when we needed them.

Samuel got the steals, gave Boat and Bazz a bit of a break and, as always, attacked the rim.

After the second SMU loss, in the thread about Olander, many (including me) said that when a team takes away Bazz and Boat, a 3 has to stand up. Giffey did. Therefore, for following the instructions of the Vineyard, Giffey takes them.

Samuel was the runner up. I bet he gets a sack off sacks before he is through.

KO's skills coaching gets an honorable mention. That was a different TSam than arrived in Storrs.

Best part about giff being solid as hell was it made Pete Gillen ( PeeCee lol) stuff a sock in his mouth. When uconn was down Gillen was all over KO saying he should go small and pull giff. Then giff knocked down shots, played with defensive intensity and came up with some huge offensive boards.
