It's a pretty good read overall, and while of course we need to get out of the conference as fast as is feasible in the world of college realignment, these were both solid hires and hopefully this league can actually be somewhat competitive in the overall landscape.

Both are very strong statement hires. In addition to SMU and Houston, you can add Tulsa to that mix too when they hired Montgomery from Baylor (and immediately flipped a 4-star QB that had previously committed to Baylor). The American got very offensive minded very fast. I hope that we can keep up.

No question the conference is making strides. As Aresco once stated, the AAC has some attractive beach front properties. My guess is once the American poses a real threat to the Power 5's autonomy, they will make a move. You know, the old Divide and conquer theory! Our hope is when that happens, UCONN is not left behind. It seems like every team in the league is striving to move up. The American is an emerging growth stock vs. a Blue chip stock.
