Fairfield County sucks. Don't make the move unless you are fine with hoards of traffic and long commutes.

The Sono ride to GCS is probably more than 45 minutes. It's about 45 from downtown Stamford. If I had to chose, I'd go Sono or Stamford. The rest of the towns all suck.
Exactly, Waterbury is probably your best bet but I would also look into Winsted.

I might have some insight on this topic. SONO is nice an up and coming downtown place. Those new Ironworks apartments look awesome, but I bet they are expensive as hell. My suggestion if you are going to drop that kind of money on rent, you would probably be better off in Stamford. It is a little more expensive, but closer to New York and there are more bars and resturants, etc. Now I love living in Norwalk and the bars on Washington St. are great, there just isn't as much. But definitly beach wise, and if you ever want to fish or go boating, Norwalk has got Stamford beat. Either way enjoy the area, it is really nice especially during the summer.

GF is 4'9", 93 lbs soaking wet, any concern with either town on safety? I know every area has some rougher parts, but overall?

As renting goes, prices are great for both places for quality. 1500-2000 for a great place and a train ride to me is much better than 2800-3200 in the UES or the other boroughs.

Keep the feedback coming, it's well appreciated.

Also yeah I would avoid areas around Woodward Ave, South Main St. and Lowe Street. Even though they moved the police station right down in SONO by the train station some years ago. There are still some areas I'd think twice before walking around at night.

Consider crossing the bridge into East Norwalk
