Stats question here. A conversation about Tarris Reed vs. Patrick Ngonba got me looking deeper into player-level analyitics.

I understand how OPRPG! is calculated, as it's easy enough to tabulate a player's offensive "counting" statistics. I can't seem to find anywhere how DPRPG is calculated - anyone know?

Defensive ratings for players never made a ton of sense for me outside of on / off statistics (e.g., how else do you quantify Solo Ball getting blown by, as there's no counting stat for that)

Yout hit the nail on the head - there are stats for offense except would-have-been-an-assist, but for defense they only have blocks, steals, rebounds. There is no pct of defensive stops or how else do I say this, no penetration allowed..(sorry, we're not doing phrasing).

So it’s like a soaking percentage or…?

So would Torvik’s DPRPG use blocks, steals, and rebounds only? Or would it also incorporate on/off statistics?
