Exactly. Must have been something she said. Still as a ref I probably would have whispered be quiet for 13 more seconds. 🤣

Duke better find someone who can lead on the court. When they get tense…it’s pretty much game over. They have their fair share of players that run on emotion, BUT…then get run over by that same emotion.

They also take too many wild and out-of-rhythm shots and Mair (though a talented player) is a walking turnover machine (& Fournier still can't consistently shoot from further than 5 feet).
 
Anyone who had SMU as the only ACC team to register a definitive win in the ACC/SEC challenge on their bingo card, I salute you.

Could the WNBA please resolve their CBA issues so at least know I have something women's basketball-related to look forward to soon? I think it's gonna be a long couple of months for this Stanford fan... 🙃

I had gone to bed by then! But looking at the play by play HH got a tech with 13 seconds to play and then another with 11 seconds. I saw a replay of the one with 11 seconds, right after she made a meaningless jumper to cut it to 5 she said something to the defender.

What happened right before that when she got her first tech?

Seems like a pretty bad look getting 2 techs in less than 5 seconds when you were losing and doing so for taunting for an individual accomplishment (making a shot) while your team is clearly going to lose.

Another of those heralded high school dunkers.

( apologies to Fournier, I like her but dunking by high school prospects is meaningless except for showing leaping ability that’s useful for blocking shots and getting rebounds) Useful, but not the only ability needed for those two tasks)

Grace Knox same way but I think grace is going to be really good. She actually has some range, not 3 point range but midrange for sure (and hits free throws)

Double technicals for her and a Miss player. Not sure they ever showed the incident, or it may have happened off camera.

Never been a fan of the hype machine that gets built behind players for their dunking. In Canada it gets more attention because of the fact it went viral. Everyone who is considered an "influencer" in the Canadian basketball scene tried to latch onto Fournier and always led with her dunking. Think it's been more of a hinderance than a help to her personally.

Well Duke did lose two outstanding perimeter defenders from last years team, so that hasn't helped. We really only play two true guards...and they are probably averaging 38 minutes a game as opposed to the 27 minutes or so they both averaged last year. That's not sustainable.... We really need for Skinner to return to the lineup to provide some rest for Mair and Jackson.

If they play like they did against LSU in that 5-8 minutes of that first quarter and put three quarters like that against Virginia Tech, Duke will win.

Based on the challenge games, I like Knox a lot more than Fournier. They're both hard-nosed players, but Knox demonstrated the ability to effectively work productively within the context of an offense.
