SEC to Net NCAA Record $70M from March Madness Units

Pretty good odds when buy your way to the top with football money and field 25% of the teams. It’s only going to get worse … just like P2 wants it.
I saw Fan Duel has like co-sponsored an TV advertisement for the Men’s Tourney (With NCAA)

I couldn’t believe it - at least TRY to make it look like you’re a legitimate college organization with some ethics.

We are beyond the slippery slope and this has turned into semi-professional sport - just wondering where it all leads to… Maybe teams can start trading players mid-season? Signing bonuses? Performance based Incentives?

They can now give more of the revenue sharing money to their football teams. You think this is going to basketball? Ha!
sure wish we had that money to give to our football program

Now you know why they got 14 teams in. Expect this to continue. B1G too will tend to get in more teams. The NCAA runs on this tournament, it funds 100% of their operations. B1G/SEC threatened to leave, which would kill the golden goose. This is their payback.

The horse left the barn on that a long time ago.

They got 14 teams in because the teams were deserving. This is a lazy post.

Nah, the bottom 3 teams weren't deserving. Put OU or UGA in the Big East and they're worse than Xavier. Boise St. got screwed.

Xavier played a home game against a team that finished below UGA and tied with OU in the SEC, and the game was a toss up, but sure.

And UConn lost to Seton Hall. Let's see how those teams fair with Big East refs and style of play.

As it should - football drives the bus. Unfortunate that UCONN never realized this. Well, Lew Perkins did.

He sent this as a threat before the tournament

Yeah, people can deny this all they want, but the NCAA is covering their butts here. Boise was better than Texas, OU and UGA.

No idea why you continue to bring up the Seton Hall loss as if it makes some sort of point. Seton Hall played way above their standard level, and had a bunch of random luck, and caught us playing badly, so they won. Xavier-Texas wasn't close because Xavier played bad and Texas played amazing.

For whoever wanted to tout the advantage the Big East will have due to the P4 putting 80% of their money in football, here's the answer to that question.
They'll generate the cash needed in more ways than we can.

Because a single game outcome is irrelevant. A bunch of those lower level SEC "big wins" were exactly like Seton Hall's win over UConn. They other team played like crap and they played their best game. They were way overrated.

So in your mind Xavier is much better than Texas and Xavier just played bad and that's why that game was close, is that correct?

More deserving of an invite to the tournament. Better resume.

I don't care who was more deserving of a bid in your mind because they both made it. I'm looking for why the 4th place team in the BE seemed pretty much at the same level as the 13th place team in the SEC if the bottom of the SEC sucks as bad as you say. Xavier played at home, against a team you say sucks, shot almost 50% from 3, had 17 assists and only 7 turnovers, and the game was still close. Seems pretty weird.

Texas should have been out. OU out. UGA out. Anybody who goes 6-12 in conference doesn’t deserve to make the tournament. Boise should have been in. WVU too. The SEC was good at the top and that inflated the metrics for teams towards the bottom. As for that game, matchups matter and anything can happen. Was New Mexico State better than UConn in 2012? No.

None of those low seeds have a chance to go deep. NCAA is awarding those spots and the $ associated to P2 teams to placate them.
