I’d agree in part with this but I’d attribute it to no vocal leaders on the court. Of course that might have been what you meant. Coach Mulkey’s team seem to be best when she has a vocal point that is also one of the best players on the team.
Sorry about that. You are correct, I meant vocal leaders. Flau'jae is great at leading by example but she can get pretty quiet and fade to the background when things are not going their way.

Honestly, one thing we never mention about Reece was her leadership on last year's LSU team. She was top tier at being both a vocal lead and a leader by example. That void is very noticable this season. I believe a lot of their current leaders are not very vocal people on the court (Flau'jae, Morrow, Williams, etc.).

I agree with that. A Reese was a force of nature with her personality and talent. Part of her game with the offensive rebounding even nullified one of the strengths of A Morrow. She even overshadowed H Van Lith’s personality. That isn’t a criticism of A Reese either. Regarding this season, this team would be much better if H Van Lith had stayed.

Great points. Reese definitely has a personality that can overpower others but I see it as passion which is important in being successful at this level.

Regarding Hailey Van Lith, I go back and forth on this. Haven't seen enough of TCU, but from what I have watched their offence seems like a better fit for her. I'm not sure if she would have gotten the opportunity to run the offence like that at LSU. My opinion is based more on gut feeling however.

What is your gripe with Kentucky because that's what stood out to me. I looked at Vandy schedule AGAIN and they play Ole Miss again.
They're pretenders. Who did they face in the noncon? The one actual team with a pulse that they faced (UNC--scheduled by the conference) beat them by 20 despite them having former ACC players and a former ACC head coach. Who have they faced in-conference? Auburn is bad this year. Florida is enigmatic and not well coached. Vanderbilt is not ready for prime time. They have a backloaded SEC schedule, so we won't know what they really are until February. If they lose four or more games in February, then what? That's not when you want to lose a handful of games, as it can leave a negative impression on the selection committee just in time for March.

Ole Miss-Vandy Part II can still be a mess if Shea Ralph doesn't figure out how to mitigate the effects of Blakes' mistakes (she had nine TOs against LSU, who didn't really pressure her--she just tried to play outside of her skill set). In games like that, she'll need to realize that [Iyana] Moore is more [reliable].

UK does have a easy first half of SEC but it's hard to see all that many losses piling up at the end of the day.

Probably an NCAA team which will be a great feather in their cap after what they've been.

Especially when the turnaround happens within one season.

UK has a very manageable path for at least eleven conference wins.

Maybe, maybe not. Teams that have easy first half schedules can develop enough momentum to keep the train rolling despite the bump in competition level. They're also susceptible to late-season collapses. How many times have we seen a team start out hot and then end with a whimper after a tough month? To me, that's more likely to happen to them than them winning 11-12 SEC games.

Kentucky won an SEC [Tournament] title with Rhyne Howard as recently as 2022, so they haven't been down for long. It's hard for me to imagine them winning an SEC title this year--not tough/talented enough for a regular season title and not deep enough for an SEC Tourney run.

Oh they have zero chance of winning the SEC regular season in my opinion. Maybe a 5% chance of winning the tournament.

11 conference wins seems about right to me.

Y'all know that Kenny Brooks is not my fave, but I will give him credit for developing Teonni Key. He and his staff have Baby Key looking like a bona fide WNBA Draft prospect, and I can't stand it because she'd be PERFECT in a different shade of blue (no, not the ugly shade of blue that she wore prior to wearing this ugly shade of blue). :(

Was Key injured at UNC? She's very good, not flashy but just solid all around and effective. Really good pickup for UK

I do recall an ACL injury one year. Her freshman season I believe.

I'm not sure how you have Tennessee at #4, when almost half the teams you have below them are actually ahead of them in the standings, and Vandy and LSU both beat them head to head.

Yes, she was injured. She also fell out of favor with UNC's coach.
