Interesting article

There is a lot of research out there that football coaches are way too conservative and actually coach against percentages. I would welcome someone bringing "Moneyball" to football.

Rocky Long is probably the most innovative defensive coach in the last 15 years. It will be interesting to see what he does here.

Whole thread on this 6-8 weeks ago. Interesting but weird idea.

Is it still only inside the 50? If so it's the right thing to do generally but hardly earth shattering.

Like the original thread, the concept was blown out of proportion. They are only looking to go for it more on 4th downs inside the 50 (depending on the distance).

In other words, he will go for it on 4th down more than most coaches. Coaches are way too conservative in this regard to begin with, but with touchbacks coming out to the 25, it makes sense to gamble a bit more this year.

anyone remember when the St Louis rams kicker got hurt and they just went for two point conversions after every TD for half a season? that to me is what cemented their status as the Greatest Show on Turf
