So I've been thinking SDSU was adding in all sports then I just realized/remembered that it was just for football. Why wouldn't they be added in basketball? They are a top 25 team this year and have a good program and would recruit great in California while in the BE. Know maybe SDSU isn't good in other sports but couldn't we add them in basketball and football?

Probably for travel reasons. In basketball, you have 18 conference games, which means 9 teams would have to make the west coast trip every year. In football, there's only 7-8 games and no more than 4 teams having to go to SDSU.

Also, only playing once a week in football it's easier to coordinate that kind of travel. Could you imagine having a Saturday game in San Diego and having to turn around and fly back to Connecticut for Big Monday?

Also their fans are the biggest bunch of stoned DBs I have ever come into contact with- I told the BE this before they decided.

I wonder if it might be realistic for teams to begin joining for basketball and football only (where you make the money on TV contracts), but not for the rest of the sports. That might allow these western teams to join for both Football and Basketball while not having the additional cost of travel for all of the olympic sports.

Although, I guess the problem would be finding a home for the other sports in a conference. If I am the WAC, why bother taking the olympic sports of a BSU, SDSU, BYU, etc if you aren't going to get the sports that really matter (Football and Basketball).

I haven't heard this talked about at all...but I wonder if this might be something they might be looking at to maximize the TV deal.

Travel.

I for one am thrilled it is only football.

Imagine a Wed night game in Memphis, Sat game in Gampel and then a Monday night game in San Diego?

Could you imagine trying to keep up some semblance of being a student with the amount of traveling they'd have to do?

They're 152 - 1 at high altitude, so the other basketball schools got nervous and voted not to invite them. Imagine them playing at sea level? They'd be an NBA team.

That's BYU's excuse. SDSU is closer to Pacific than UConn is to Atlantic ocean.

It's a BY meme, dude. I don't remember how it got started, but something about SDSU and altitude is a thing around here.

It came from some SDSU fans trying to convince the Boneyard that the Aztec's success last winter at altitude somehow made them more of a threat to kick our butts in Anaheim.

Yes, they have a solid program and I respect what they've done but they were handsdown one of the most dillusional fanbases to ever come on the board, absolutely hillarious. Even after the game ended I beleive they dubbed themselves, "Best team not to win an NCAA title" in college BB history. Long arms, big hands, high altitude, 'The Show'. I loved it.

What's worse is that the fans that came here were relatively tame. Most message boards are delusional, but theirs went above and beyond the call of duty.

Yeah, the SDSU message board was extremely lolsy. Buncha kids who had no clue of what they spoke.

SDSU had players with some of the biggest hands we ever played. One guy had really, really big hands. And you know they say, big hands, big gloves.
