Having a lot of room for improvement and a willingness to improve is very very very important. Disco prioritizes this over current performance. We will see if this strategy pays off over the next 1-2 years.

It's also position variable. OL...very hard to project where a kid will be by the time he sees the field. If he's smart, picks up the blocking scheme and puts in 3 years of work including a redshirt year, you get a beast for junior and senior year. That's how Nebraska did it (and Iowa as Diaco knows). Running backs? WRs? QBs? Get as many stars as you can get at those positions. It's no guarantee, but it it helps the odds.

Diaco is still stocking the pantry. We are playing mostly young kids as it is. In another year or two, he'll have the veteran team he wants with time to develop the guys he brings in.
