Teams #3 and #4 (UConn and Iowa) both fell victim to the treacherous 5/12 game in the men's tournament.​

And Kentucky won the prize for biggest upset victim of the day, falling in the 2/15 game to the Peacocks of Saint Peter's.​

Indiana, after advancing from the men's "First Four", was humbled by the Gaels of Saint Mary's [good day for the saintly schools, at least on the men's side].​

On the women's side, Longwood survived its "First Four" test against Mount St. Mary's. The listed teams advancing to the men's 2nd round were Baylor, Kansas, Tennessee, Arkansas, Creighton, Michigan.
