Scheyer wants us!

H/H/MSG. No reason this shouldn’t be a yearly series for a long time. I doubt Scheyer is putting this out there if he isn’t agreeing to a H/H minimum.

Why is this this coming out now??? Maybe he’s not getting enough butt kissing from the press and all the talk is about UConn?

Let’s play a h/h with Unc instead. He needs this more than we do…

Maybe Dook should prove they can make it past the first weekend in March, then come back and talk to us about a home and home.
weren't they just in the elite 8? Not saying they necessarily deserved to be....

More people can get to the game in Hartford, a real city vibe. I love...LOVE a sold out and raucous Hartford Civic Center. We can do both!!!!!!
Never thought anybody would ever state “Hartford” and “real city vibe” in the same sentence.

Despite the fanfare that will be Flagg’s 7 month tour of Duke, they are yesterday’s news.

From a post I made on 8/16/24 so I am all in for a home and home every year. Maybe if the biggest and best CBB brands all decide to do this maybe it slows the conference take scenario we all dread.

I get some of the sentiment about the Dook stuff. But every great team needs a rival. We really don’t appear to have a real one in the BE.

I think it would be a good thing if Dook and UConn played every year on a neutral site. I know the coaches would despise it but it would be great for the college game. Right now there are no other dominant teams, maybe Kansas, but not after last year.

Dook is not even a dominant team but they are the best choice because they are the biggest brand in CBB. It pains me to say that about their brand but as others have said I will take chips instead of notoriety.

The holiday tournaments are great when they draw the right teams and hope for the marquee matchups.

But if our fan bases keep on disliking each other like they currently do UConn v. Duke could become a nice interest generator.

Our next rival is Kansas. It’s already begun and is much more intriguing than any other option. Not that we shouldn’t play all the great teams every year, but if we’re establishing a rivalry, Kansas is the best option if we really want a proven elite benchmark.

bring it. on campus H&H would be great but if they insist on MSG we need to insist on Charlotte instead of Cameron.
If they insist on MSG, we say no.

Issue is at msg, it’s ESPN. At home, it is fox.

The Rothstein pod with Scheyer. The UConn piece hits around 26 minutes, most of it really promoted by Roth and JS back pedaling.

If they insist on MSG, we agree to MSG/Charlotte or MSG/Raleigh.
Or we say no. We can play them in MSG without a return trip. The entire point is to get them playing a road game.

Kentucky
UCLA
Kansas
Duke

UConn
Msu or Indiana
Zona
Unc

Every year, go for it. Of course it was easier before all these teams switching Conferences.

Arizona has no business being in that group even as a potential wild card.

If we can get them to play us at MSG with no other games tied to that one, great. If they balk and claim that if they're playing us in our backyard, so a return is needed, we take it (in Charlotte or Raleigh).

We can never play too many games at MSG against a name opponent. It's impossible, I did the math.

Math!

It's a lot like science, but different.

There is no way Duke would come to us and insist on MSG as the northeast version of a home and home.
If they did, Hurley would be running to his favorites in the press talking about how we are being disrespected again.

K spent much of his career dissing UConn and refusing to set up series with us. Would only play us at Cameron or at a neutral site. Screw them all. Let them beg for several years first. I wouldn't want to give them any road to respectability, especially through us. We can meet them in the tournament and stuff them there. 77-74
Meh…. Didn’t like K all that much.
And UConn is the Big Dog now.
They are calling shots and making the rules.
The fact Duke is asking means they know it too.
Great for fans, great for game, and probably boosts UConn’s media value.

We've already played them at MSG. Getting them to Gampel would be the most fun. Uconn needs to build up their campus experience and this would help with that.

Hartford?! C'mon, Johnny! This is to showcase the home courts of the 2 most elite programs of the last 30 years. Show the camping out, put ESPN on campus, College Gameday, the student sections. What do you want to see? The students file off the buses from Storrs onto Main St? The dusty Whaler banners in the rafters?
You should respect the Hartford loyal season ticket holders who make seat donations every year.

needs to be Charlotte which is about 2.5-3 hours away, Duke is closer to Raleigh than UCONN is to Hartford
