We’re either dropping to 1-AA or dropping the sport. When will the announcement be?

Why is there a new thread and the same wise arsh comments each time.

I think UConn will be working for a bit on the schedule next year, but it should improve in year two and beyond.

They have no plan beyond other than a return to Big East basketball and recapturing the past. A mighty return to the days as one of the great basketball blue bloods... which got us jack squat in real world CR. Any credible effort would involve solid communication as to direction, commitment and progress. Instead, we get a lot of double talk and no real proof of movement with a purpose. Rudderless garbage.

Clearly, we should stay in the AAC to prop up a 1-11 football team while the rest of the athletic department continues to slowly die on an internet app. That's obviously what the B10 and ACC are looking for.

If they were serious about football they would have left the conference later, giving more time to fill the schedule.
In the rush to join the CYO league, they threw Football under the bus.

Or are you hinting as to when those 4 teams we have scheduled will have to refill their open dates when we drop football after this year?

It’s crazy how all you football “fans” criticize all these players like your Colin cowherd wanting them not to give up and keep fighting in games but say to cancel the program. Makes it hard for players to want to give it they’re all for a fan base like that. Maybe have a little faith and ride out the storm. Look how many teams go through a few periods of down time before the rise to the top. Maybe y’all need to start practicing what you preach and you might get a team that puts up a better fight for you. Ims

Yeah, lots of teams lose 20-straight against FBS teams!

That would make them obligated to build broadcast facilities and broadcast games for one year and pay for travel for all sports to American locations for 1 additional year. That cost is likely >$4M. That's a lot of coin to spend for another year of games that only @11K will actually attend.

Not the point. The point is it’s half a plan and not a really great one at that . Every bit if evidence supports the point that basketball drives nothing. It might support 2 weeks of self indulgent importance in April but otherwise its has no little meaning in the national college sports money ecosystem. It has enough monetary power to keep small catholic universities funded and within the periphery of relevance. As a national public university, we have shrunk back into a place of false security. If they win the NC again, it will mean little in CR for the future, just like in the past. If we don’t have viable football, we have nothing.

Some fans are basically saying "We got in the NBE. I don't care that there is no plan for football. F Off and let us enjoy bball in the NBE."

And then after it is pointed out how insane it is to have no plan for football, they say "well, football is hopeless and everyone should just give up.".

you think teams like men’s basketball were horrendous because the football team was terrible?

the move to the big east was so short sighted, chasing glory in a conference that looks nothing like the old big east.

Forget the B10 or ACC
Basketball is NOT getting UConn into any P5
This Athletic department has made the decision to forget P5 stature and be a basketball school - its much easier doing so
Thats why DB the db has to go

The BE of today is not the BE of the past: no Syracuse, no Pitt, no BC and the St John's and Providences are not nearly as good. Remember '85 when the BE had three of the final four spots . . . that conference doesn't exist today.

It’s ironic that the guy hired to save football, intentionally killed it. It’s tough to get your arms around that likely fact.
