Another home game and another conflict with a local NFL team. There has been a lot of that this year. We have all kinds of excuses such as TV contract, poor conference and Wolf Pack getting priority, etc.

To that I say never again or at least seldom - whatever it takes that needs to be done should be done. I buy 4 tickets and I can deal with an injury prone losing season - what I don't want to do is make a choice between watching the Patriots vs Steelers playoff game and UConn MBB.

True, we don't know if the Giants or Patriots will make the playoffs and if they do what time their games are. But, we do know what weekends the playoffs are and we have two buildings that should give us some flexibility. Let the TV contract use some non pro football market teams for throw away time slots against the NFL - since no one will be watching anyways.

Less people will renew if we continue this practice especially since they have had to eat the tickets this year due to less interest rather than being able to resell.

The last two weeks of the playoffs games tend to start after 3pm so if you must play today - a dreaded noon start would have been better.

I agree with you about today. But making that argument about last week or the prior one makes no sense since the NFL schedules multiple games on Saturday and Sunday. For there to be no conflicts, a bball team would have to give up the entire weekend. On the other hand, there is no excuse for today. Teams should not be playing this Sunday unless it is a 12 o'clock game.

Friday night is an option the last two weekends. It was interesting the Fenway Frozen called a time audible due to a patriots conflict with the game on sports cable.

The Saturday game last weekend started At 4pm and Sunday got moved to 3pm which will be a trend going forward due to grabbing a 7-10pm ratings slot Sunday night.

Seems like this started when we were dispatched to the AAC. Way to many Sunday games. No longer on the main ESPN channel. Our performance doesn't warrant being shown on the major sporting channels between 12-8pm on Saturday. Maybe I wrong.

The former is true--we have bad times. The latter is not true. UConn has not been going down in terms of ESPN/ESPN2/CBS games.

When was the last time we were on ESPN main channel. Not 2, news etc?

ESPN 2 is very different than either ESPNU or ESPNNews. UConn has only been on either U or News once this year. ESPN2, unlike U or News, has a very wide viewership and high ratings, much higher than FS1 for instance. I believe ZLS in the past has made the point that ESPN2 actually has more customers than even ESPN.

As for ESPN and ESPN2, that can be attirubted to the team's poor performance. often the games are listed as ESPN/ESPN2 games, and it is not until we get closer to the games, that they are shifted.

So expect the upcoming ESPN games against Cincy, Memphis and Temple to all be switched over to ESPN2.

Regardless, the point stands.

I assume todays NFL games were flex scheduled so worst case scenario is CBS scheduled this game against their own AFC Championship. Best case scenario is they scheduled it against Fox's NFC championship. Either way its complete BS. Throw in the 2 mid afternoon workday games and then the weekend games with completely random times and I have never been more frustrated with the schedule.
