Whether or not Wichita State joins the conference, I believe UConn's OOC schedule needs to improve drastically so that we 1) have better opponents and home games and 2) avoid playing schools where a bad loss is possible.
If we schedule 31 games every year (13 OOC, 18 in conference), here are two possible scenarios we should consider:
A) OOC: 3-game preseason tournament, Syracuse at MSG, 6 home and homes with P5 or NBE schools (Arizona, Ohio State, Villanova, Georgetown, Kentucky, Auburn), and three pay games against decent competition (Yale, Harvard, Princeton). This results in a great schedule with 6 OOC home games.
B) OOC: 3-game preseason tournament, Syracuse at MSG, 4 home and homes with P5 or NBE schools
(Arizona, Ohio St., Villanova, Georgetown), and five pay games against decent competition (Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Quinnipiac, Fairfield). This results in a good schedule with 7 OOC home games.
Would you prefer either of these scenarios to the status quo?
