Although I agree that the football program is not headed in a positive direction, that Paul P does not seem to have been a good hire thus far, and that CFB is driving conference realignment, it still seems an important distinction should be made between saving the football program and the university itself. I realize that the success of the basketball programs has been tied to academic benefits like increased donations, increased applications to the school, etc., so it's not a perfect distinction. It is, however, still a distinction.
Additionally, UConn could be dominating the Big East in FB and still not have been anyone's first choice in the conference realignment shuffle.
