Houston Baptist Huskies pull big upset over Stephen F Austin and move on. One of the teams in the big SWAC brawl, Southern, also gets upset. HuskyNan grimaces as Elon bows out to James Madison, and Striper is praying for a Delaware comeback against Hofstra as the action gets late.

The March madness has begun.

Nah, Elon did well. This was the Phoenix first year in the CAA after moving up from the Southern Conference. Picked to finish 6th in the league, they finished in the top four. Hmm, just noticed they lost by only 3 points to the top seeded team. Not bad at all.

And at least with both Elon and Delaware going down, there's now no need for you and Striper to engage in any trash talking about the CAA final.

Wins by Western KY and Wichita State in the CUSA and MVC semis were probably good for Tulane's chances if both teams can finish the job in the finals.

ELON looks like a little-known Scrabble anagram for LONE, or a long-forgotten early kind of nylon fiber.

I was thinking of the Eloi from HG Wells' The Time Machine, though probably associating with a future race of brain-challenged humans is not what a college would be happy about.

Both games came down to a last second three point attempt.

Those BIGS of Hofstra played like Akeem's Houston Rockets Saturday! Delaware was trying to drive and get them in foul trouble but they didn't foul (or at least the refs weren't calling fouls). They fell behind early and couldn't get ahead to take the game. They came back in the second half but their three point shooter was off and didn't want to try them in the second half.

Just the breaks, I guess. I was thinking about how the teams and fans feel when they got eliminated...I found out. Pretty disappointed and hated to see the season end for them.

It was a blast to experience the tournament. Brought back memories of my own participation back in the day!
