Saturday 3/23/2019 games

Another starter w/ 2 fouls. Tennessee defense is just awful. UCLA keeps getting wide open drives to the bucket. Is anyone coaching the Vols?
 
Tennessee...oh, Tennessee...you are a waste of a tournament berth. I mean, I fully expect them to make a run and make this interesting at some point, but Tennessee just plays such horrific basketball.

The athleticism between UCLA and Tennessee is comparable. But UCLA actually runs sets that results in good looks for their players. Tennessee just throws away the ball over and over again.
 
NC State leads Maine, 25-17, 4:51 left in the 2nd quarter.
 
Really an entertaining fast-paced game between Central Michigan and Michigan State.

MAC player of the year Reyna Frost is a one-person wrecking crew so far, 25 points (!!) on 12-18 shooting at the half.

This could actually be worse for Tennessee, Dean is ice cold for UCLA. Finally hit a shot, only 1-8.
 
With the basketball talent on the team, Tennessee really underperformed this year. So, it shouldn't be too surprising if they lose by a wide margin to UCLA.
 
28-14 at the end of Q1 UCLA. Tennessee actually had a 6-0 run until they gave up a 3 so wide open that Dean had about 3 or 4 seconds to think about shooting it, and there still wasn't a defender anywhere remotely close to her.

NC State finished the 2nd quarter on a 13-2 run to get a 39-22 lead at the half.

You can catch up rest after the beginning of April. It's only a couple weeks and it only happens once a year.
 
Everything good for Tennessee is in transition or just instinctual athletic plays like o-board putbacks. UCLA is doing a bad job of picking up Tennessee players in transition this quarter.
 
Tennessee has more O boards than UCLA does now. I'm not liking the direction this game is going. Onyenwere has been quiet after a pair of early buckets. She needs to get involved.

They're getting plenty of trips to the charity stripe too.
 
Kai Crutchfield has been huge for NC State so far today. Three THREEs...one of which she was fouled. 10 points...including 7 on just two plays. Kai has struggled at times this year with confidence but she's clearly in the zone today.

Um...if you tap the ball out fighting for an offensive rebound and it crosses half court, how is that not an over and back violation? Worked out in UCLA's favor.
 
UCLA is still up 13 but Dean is only 2-13 from the floor. Both teams have foul trouble piling up, Burke for UCLA just picked up her 3rd.
 
44-32 UCLA at the half. Dean is trying to shoot them out of the game but Tennessee's 9 turnovers is helping maintain the lead.
