No marquee matchups today, but #12 Texas is at Texas Tech and trailing 27-16 late in 1Q.

The Longhorns' struggles just don't seem to end this year.

Other Big 12 action:
  • Kansas State at West Virginia, 4pm ET
  • #20 Iowa State at Oklahoma State, 6pm ET

Texas ended the half on an 8-0 to close the gap, but Tech still leads, 40-35, at the half.

Tech is 8-16 from the arc and only committed 4 turnovers in the first 20 minutes. Freshman Chrislyn Carr leads with 11 points and 3 assists.

It's all tied up in Lubbock after 3Q, 55-55. Not a pretty game, by any stretch, but Tech's improvement over a year ago is very noticeable.

Tech has taken a 5-point lead in 4Q, but even worse for Texas: Joyner Holmes just went out of the game with an injury, possibly an ankle.

CUSA is a pretty competitive under the radar league. Both Rice and UAB were in that top ten mid-major poll... and they are playing right now @UAB

BTW, Danni Williams is averaging 10.4 points, 5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists on 36% shooting.

Would she have been better than that at UConn? Perhaps, but it'd appear that Mississippi State got the better of the A&M transfers.

UAB leads at halftime, 23-20. Quite a defensive battle, sounds like.

One of these Saturdays imma go check out a HPU or UNC-G WCBB game..... Big South and Southern Conference Action..... The little guys need love too

Jatarie White fouled out but Holmes back in to replace her. Texas leads by 5 with 1:00 to play.

Serious question..... take UCONN outta the American... is CUSA better than the American? The bottom feeders from CUSA weigh them down.... but at the top..... I may put my money on CUSA.

Thats off-season news....

Ok.... back to today's games...... in Big South Action..... Charleston Southern is up on my High Point Panthers 32-23 in the first

Interesting question.

Massey ratings:

AAC (minus UConn): 33, 75, 88, 103, 113, 152, 194, 196, 206, 221, 236
mean: 147; median: 152

C-USA: 61, 64, 91, 106, 126, 157, 159, 183, 191, 200, 259, 281, 313, 331
mean: 180; median: 171

At the top the comparison is fairly close, but a UConn-less AAC still has the edge.

Summary: Your anti-American bias is showing :)

CUSA has the clear edge in historical WCBB programs...... ODU, LaTech, WKU.... that would have a powerhouse top of a conference back in the 1980s and 1990s

Texas survives in Lubbock. It was a very back-and-forth 2nd half, and basically Tech was the last to suffer a cold streak.

At that point Texas may be the most overranked team in the AP poll. I'm not sure that they're even top 25. Massey has them at #17 but even that sounds optimistic to me.

My stangs with the win vs Boneyard Favorite South Florida. 46-44. They are involved in some loooooooooooooow scoring games.

This HPU game is getting out of hand. Guess thats my cue to log off and head to the gym.

Out of hand? You mean one-sided?

Aint that the same thing? My Panthers are getting routed as we type. Head bang

But at least my Spartans are up on Western Carolina 49-39 deep into the third.

Ha well it could also refer to conduct issues. A game with a bench-clearing brawl could be described as "getting out of hand," for example. Remember the TSU-Southern brawl from a few years ago?

Rice stays undefeated (7-0) in C-USA with a 55-43 win at UAB, which falls to 6-2.

Oklahoma transfer 6'8" Nancy Mulkey came close to a triple-double: 14 points, 10 rebounds, 8 blocks.

I don't know that USF is a board favorite so much as we will root for ANY American team that doesn't completely suck ... which is typically 2/3 of the conference. :(
