Maybe a bit redundant , but...

Sango is strong and among the best centers we have had, but.....

He generally handles triple teams badly. This was brought into focus to me when he got stuffed by the rim, today.

Towards the end of the game, today, when he got trippled, he passed the ball out.

Fantastic start.

When he is doubled, for the most part, he can power it up.

Tripled, he starts to have trouble. Needs to recognize earlier and kick it out.

IMHO

oddly, he got three assists in the game today. took me a second to realize that the two cole out-of-bounds hand-offs counted as assists for sanogo. the third was the kick-out for whaley's game-tying three.

This isn't fully in the pedantic department, but for the love of god:

Someone teach Sanogo to receive the ball up high, keep it high, stick that ass out, let the defense commit then while still holding the ball high pass it to someone cutting to the lane. If you're the offense and you have already forced the defense to double team, much less triple team, you have won the battle. Now Hurley's got to earn that money and learn how to teach these guys to win the war.

Yeah, he brings the ball down to his knees every single time he can't get an easy immediate look at the basket and the little guys on the floor poke it out. It's like watching Groundhog Day.

It's an athleticism thing as well as a bad habit thing. He doesn't have the fast twitch muscle to catch high, keep it high, and dunk it.

Maybe he was taught to keep it low in HS for protection. If so, he needs to relearn.

If Sanogo can't figure out how to pass to the open guy and make teams pay for doubling or tripling him, his offensive game is basically neutralized. He'll just continue to receive the ball and chuck up a bad shot or get stuck and turn it over. It seems like a mindset - it always looks like he has a one-track mind to score when he has the ball. Once he figures out how to make teams pay for doubling, he'll be able to feast.

It looked better yesterday, not good, but better. He looked to pass about 2 times which is 2 more than usual

I think his passing will get better. Bigger issue for me is not doing his work early IMO. He posts up 15 feet out and then tries to back in, instead of establishing position and receiving the ball in his scoring spot. Sanogo should not have the ball in his hands for more than 3 seconds--ever. Get the ball, turn, put it up with either hand or go up and under. That's it. 60% from the field, and probably good for 14ppg.

One thing would improve his game (and our overall game). When he gets the ball 10-12 feet from the basket, pass the ball back out and reset deeper in the post. He will either get the ball back in better position or we will run the offense to get a better shot.

If Sanogo was a competent passer, we'd be 8-0 with a possible win over Baylor. I really believe we'd be that much better. There are times when Cole, Polley, and Hawkins are on the floor with him and he's triple teamed. If he wasn't a black hole our offense would be VERY hard to guard
