Sanogo: A beast on the boards

15 rebounds tonight. It's becoming a pattern. This kid is relentless.
He's now an elite defender/shotblocker as well. He's just a stud but needs to get back to making his ft's because he'll get hacked more and more.

He was 2 points shy of being the first UConn player with 3 straight games of a least 15 points and at least 15 rebounds since 1969 (Ron Hrubala). This is all according to the UConn record book, so take that with a grain of salt. But still, if he had only gone 60% from the line that would’ve been a fun stat to throw out there.

how about this one? talk about good company...

At this point he should be on the NBA radar probably needs another year to improve athletically and extend his range but he’s on their radar. He has a decent wingspan, coach Mike measured him at 7’3. DeJuan Blair played a number of years in the league with a similar stature and skill set.

When I saw him give Kessler 30 early in the year. It reminded me a little of how Blair played against us

A joy to watch. He is having fun with chest bumps along the way. Important that he stays out of foul trouble. There were many touch calls made last nite. You just never know how the game will be called from game to game.

I wonder what clicked for him.

Up until the last 3 games he has never been a great rebounder. Average at best for his size and position.

He was averaging 6 per game until the recent run, only hitting double digit boards 1 time and 4 games with 5 or less.

Whatever has lit a fire under his butt, hope it doesn’t stop. If he keeps up rebounding like this, oh my.

Something changed with the way he attacks the glass since coming back from injury. Only had one double-digit rebounding game all year until he strung together 15+ in each of the last three games. Ridiculous numbers. Love to see it.

What changed, subtly, is that he isn't standing outside the 3 point line as often. Note that Martin's boards are down in that same stretch, and without checking, probably Jackson's too. He's more often in position to get defensive rebounds. He was always pretty solid on the offensive rebounding end.

Sanogo has always been a good rebounder. Its just that Jackson and Martin snatch up a lot of rebounds that our bigs would normally get. Lately, Sanogo has just been more relentless than ever before.

DeJuan Blair also famously didn’t have ACLs

Good point.
