The three-time North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year has a new accolade to add to her résumé: 2020-21 Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Saniya Rivers, the No. 3-ranked overall prospect in the Class of 2021, was surprised by Washington Mystics star Elena Delle Donne -- whom she called "the GOAT herself" -- with the award presentation.

Saniya Rivers is ready to be the next Kevin Durant

Congrats to Saniya. I guess if Azzi is healthy and can play 2020-2021 full year, she will win all the awards.

Congrats to her, probably the best athlete in the 2021 class. From footage I've seen she looks like a young Angel McCoughtry. Looking forward to seeing her play in the fall.

Great to see a player from NC get some recognition. Wish she could have stayed in-state, but that's water under the bridge. Little known fact. Rivers shared the NC AP Player of the year award her sophomore year with a player who is currently on High Point's roster.

Johnson winning the Naismith POTY, Rivers winning the Gatorade POTY, Feagin making the USA U19 team. All 4 in the class being McDs All-Americans. A pretty well decorated class, one must say....

Dawn‘s 2021-2022 roster is stacked with talent with 3 of the top 5 players from the ‘21 class coming in. This may be the best group she’s had since coming to SC. I would conservatively suggest that there are at least 3 All-Americans on that roster.

Congratulations to Saniya on earning this award. She did the work, and now the reward is sweet. Also, congratulations to Dawn Staley on putting together such a highly talented group of young ladies. Overall, the 2021-22 WCBB incoming class is quite talented and us fans will be certainly awed by these athletes’ abilities and talents. I’m anxiously awaiting the start of the season, and I hope you are also.

Dawn probably sent Saniya a video of Paige's exploits against SC and gave her marching orders " don't let her torch us"

Ehhh, somewhat.;) Seriously though, that is potentially an extremely talented class, even NC level. However, they will face some stiff competition during their college careers from multiple schools.
