Hope she enjoys herself today.

Didn't see the earlier post. Wish I could delete this.

Saw a tweet that said Saniya's whole team is here today. They have a very young team, so who knows there could be other players that might decide to make future visits. They start 3 freshmen and 2 juniors.

I bet Saniya invited the whole team. sounds like something she would do.

5'9" seems to be the height. She reminds me a little of Bria Hartley and Candice Wiggins.

Spotted her just now, first row. She's in a team jacket (burgundy, white trim) just calmly taking it all in.

I wonder where ESPN Hoopgurlz will rank her when the top 100 is released. I cant imagine she wont be ranked with all the buzz surrounding her lately.

All depnds if they get to see enough video or actually get to some games. With her not playing for a big AAU team (yet) I don't think any of their evaluators have seen her. It is unusual for someone reportedly so talented to have not played in any of the big tournaments - tough to get a ranking if no one sees you play.

Calmly taking it in may be a good sign. At the Duke game last year, Breanna pretty much had a poker face the whole game. We all know how that turned out!! :p

she plays with her high school team, unless she leaves that team for a NYC AAU team she won't get the recognition she deserves

Looks like Saniya definitely met with the coaches: a couple more (positive) tweets from her coach:

Good stuff! That's a great pic of the two teams hangin' out.

Can't help but have a very good feeling about this situation.

Watching UConn recruit is like watching a vise tightening.

First Shea goes to see Saniya play.

Next Malissa goes to a game and presumably either issues the invitation or confirms that not only Saniya but also her mom, her coach and her teammates are all invited to sit immediately behind the UConn bench for Georgetown game.

The Ossining team comes to Gampel. Before the game, the players mingle with UConn players, do a photo-op on the court while Geno hosts Saniya, Coach Ricci and Saniya's mom. Afterward, the coach tweets, "Very impressive."

You can see how this will play out. Geno will go to an Ossining game. Saniya will make an official visit (and go on the court for a practice or a shootaround).

Contacts by phone and text continue. The stage is set.

At some point CD elder or Geno makes a home visit. Geno closes the deal by securing an oral commitment. About a dozen wccbb coaches throw up their hands in despair, knowing they never had a chance.

November, Saniya signs an LOI and everybody in Ossining celebrates while looking forward to watching their girl play for mighty UConn.

During the 2012-2013 season, Saniya comes to many home games, just as Bria used to do from Long Island. Boneyarders get a steady feed of box scores (as currently and recently has been the case with Brianna and Morgan).

Summer 2013, Saniya enrolls.

As Olde Coach pointed out, there's a good shoot of her with a HUGE smile after Bria nails a three at the 4:22 mark to put UConn up 77-34. In that offensive series, Buck and Tiff both had nasty offensive rebounds to get Bria the opportunity to hit that shot.

Soniya picked a good game to go to. Everyone getting a chance to play. Defense was ridiculous. Offense hitting on all cylinders for most of the game. Young players playing big. Good crowd on hand. Would be very pleased if she made the plunge and became the first commit of 2013.

This is just surreal. A kid is playing 20 miles from the Connecticut state line. Because of lack of exposure, she is ranked about 85, but looks like a #20 or maybe higher. She gets triple-doubles regularly. Puts up 30 routinely and occasionally goes for 40, 50, or even 60. Her team wins alm the time. She shoots a high percentage from everywhere. And she wants to go to UConn. Where does Geno find these kids? In Saniya's case, practically next door. Just unbelievable!

Well, we don't KNOW she wants UConn.

But it kinda looks like we might have a shot.;)

Just listen to Bob Wolf interview of Saniya and Coach Ricci. Coach Ricci being impressed with the meeting with Geno is impressive to me. Coach Ricci's record is 311-128. His players all play on the same AAU team to develop great teams, not stars. Their JV team has been undefeated for the last two years. Very impressive program. He sounds like a very centered person who teaches many of the same things Geno teaches.
