San Diego State Post Game Thread

He was scared to attack Clingan, the entire game plan should be getting him in foul trouble, and ledee decided tough pull ups were a better option.
The thing is, if DC just stands still with his hands up he’s still hard to finish over.

Guys can try to drive into him but it’s on DC if they are actually going to draw the foul or not. And that’s all they would be hoping for. Otherwise it’s a kamikaze drive.

I'm showing my age here, and I know the game has evolved somewhat, but Stephon Castle's game reminds me of Sidney Moncrief.
Not a bad comparison, right down to the outside jump shot being the least developed part of their games.

My emergency backup comp is Dumars.

I'm hesitant to give him Gary Payton praise, cuz he's more a 2 than a 1 (to me anyway, but with all the ball transition, who freakin knows?) until we see what becomes of him.

This team is like a Sherman tank on steroids running wild.

Castle was an absolute animal tonight. 16/11/2, and made every single shot at the rim. That hit he took at the rim would have killed me. He just tucked his chin and kept playing.

Clingan had a bad first half. We got away from the forced post-up and he looked much better. WAY better on Ledee the second half. Only 3 points and something like 1/6 from the floor.

Cam and Newton did Cam and Newton things. They weren't the stars tonight despite playing really well.

Samson wasn't strong enough in that one stretch of 3 fouls, but he did a nice job otherwise IMO. Not great, but got the job done.

And of course Hassan just refuses to be beaten despite being the smallest guy on the court.

This team is so fun to watch. Win or lose, the passing, skill and hellacious defense are what I love to watch.

Diarra was far from the smallest player tonight.

He looks like he has put on upper body weight during the season. Looks like a football player put there.

And his ability to spin the ball around the rim make layups is uncanny.

Very strange to see Karaban go from sizzlin' to drizzlin' on the shooting. Defended well, of course.
Those first 2 3s were huge. San Diego came out on fire, and we could have easily opened the game in a big hole

It's like this and like that and like this and uh.

Until.... the next episode
