Same Title, Different Song

Here are a couple of songs, both of which were hits. I’m posting the Janis Ian version of her song Jesse rather than the Roberta Flack version:

Here are a couple of progressive rock tunes called Prologue. Renaissance:

And Gentle Giant with a version I’d never heard before. As always, their live version is a very different arrangement from the album version.

Not my favorite Usher song, but I thought the performance and choreography were awesome here:

Eurovision power ballad!

Interesting factoid: The co-writer (Sharon Vaughn) also wrote the country mega-hit "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys".

I remember this video playing frequently on MTV in the mid-80s.

Geez, I had no idea that Kevin Godley and Lol Creme did anything after 10cc.

.-.
From their album Lights Out, released in June of 1977.
Opening track from the LP.

From Heatwave's first album, Too To Hot To Handle, released in the US in May of 1977.
Also the opening track.
What are the odds? lol

This band took a strange turn. The singer, Charlotte, was clearly the face of the band. But the founder kicked everybody out and decided to continue as a solo project. Not sure how well that's going to work out for him.

This second song seems like they got the song title wrong. The chorus is clearly "light up for me," not "light me up." Oh well.

Another w/ Pat Benatar.

You just reminded me of an old favorite that I haven't heard in a long time. Written by the Brothers Gibb.
