Probably Pasqualoni's fault. Call him or post this in a thread that hates on him please.

If that's true....the police should investigate and appropriate legal action should be taken. You can't pin this on Uconn as a whole.

That's pathetic, really classy. Find them and send them to Ames let ISU handle the punishment.

Def. That happens to all schools. One person makes the whole fan base look terrible.

that's just wrong, what happened?

is the football crowd still consisting of a lot of drunks like it was a few years ago? Different crowd than hoops games

don't know for sure, but when I was in school Cy was "manned" by a group of 4 female students ... if it was a chic that is infinately worse.

Someone must have seen this happen. I was near the student section and saw Cy being walked into the locker room with a cop so it wasn't the students...came from down the other end, I guess.

We thought Cy was getting kicked out. I'd like to know how he got beat up when he was on the field and the fans should not have been. Struggling to understand here.

Some of the Cyclone fans comments on that message boards aren't a whole lot classier, fwiw.

It was a hard fought game that could have easily been won by either team. Too bad something like this has to tarnish the experience.

Apparently we're called UConn thugs?

Oh give me a break (no pun intended)

I wonder if URI is still pissed we stole their mascot and tied him up back in the 50s-60s. Thus ramnapping. :D

But why do they have to rip UConn in general and then write things like the fan should die and rot.

that's far worse than shoving the mascot

isu fans on cf are over reacting to call uconn fans thugs but that kid has two broken bones in his forearm. this was posted by someone at the game on isu rival site "Many of their fans were great, but the ones that weren't really ruined the experience." as you can see a small minority can influence perception of the majority.

Most mascots that are sent into a road venue DO NOT get their arm busted up. It is sad that a few idiots have to ruin it for everyone else, but to say ISU's fans are not acting in a "classy" manner isn't fair either. We are mad, and giving people online anonymity does not help. As an ISU fan, I'm fairly upset by WHO did this, not UConn fans. You are not a fan base of thugs and no one deserves to die/rot. People blow off steam by typing aggressive/violent thoughts which is not appropriate either. I think both schools can agree that whoever did this needs to be discovered and held accountable.

Very sorry to hear this happened. I hope the ISU mascot recovers OK and the s that did that get what's coming to them.

you know what blows me away? the people in that thread are talking about how someone should retaliate next time they play us in something. Then at the same time they are indicting the entire university because one guy did something stupid. The two most recent posts are one guy saying basically what I just said, followed by the next guy essentially saying its on our whole fan base because "Would you allow a fellow fan to do something like this?"

Uh....what? I'm gonna take a wild guess and say no one encouraged him to assault the mascot.

And the guy that did this should and probably will get hit with a big fat assault charge. Justice will be carried out and I'm sure the University and all Connecticut football fans will fully support the charge.

Can you really blame them for overreacting? We'd be pretty p!ssed off if the shoe was on the other foot.

From the Cyclone Fanatic Site link above?

-The medical and training staff came over and attended to Cy
-A few Connecticut state police officers did come down, open up a notebook, and start asking questions to the people in the general vicinity of the altercation
-A lot of people were pointing at somebody--didn't see who
-Eventually, the cops left
-I didn't see anybody in either cardinal and gold or blue and white being escorted with them, though

I do want to say, though, that these UConn fans were really classless and entitled. I'd gone to Iowa City three times and Lincoln and Lawrence once before this wearing a band uniform while I did it, and I never had anything near as negative happen to me as what happened this evening in Hartford. I can relate the particulars if anybody wants to hear them, but there's at least three "incidents" of being verbally threatened just because I was wearing the wrong colors and we were winning.

What happened with Cy--and, again, I don't have all the facts, just reporting what I saw--seems to me to be one of the worst things I've ever heard out of a fan base or an athletic event, in general. The person responsible should be liable for an assault charge as well as medical bills, and UConn should be liable for some of the latter and some damages for failing to provide a safe environment. I don't see how the railing would have been an issue. They seemed plenty high enough to me.

I can relate those incidents above if anybody wants to hear (it was nothing too terrible, just some very smack talk with some bad nature and bad overtones to it), but I did want to outline what I saw happen to Cy tonight. Sorry, no pictures or film of it, though.
It needs to be restated.

You don't **** with the bird...

It is on Uconn. You want a ******* war you got it...

I would probably be pissed at the guy that did it and no one else unless there were reports of multiple incidents. Obviously we've all been to sporting events both in home venues and road venues and there are always drunks morons. I just don't think you can blame an entire fanbase, let alone the University. And to resort to saying someone should "send the Husky to the kennel?" I just don't get it.

We see a bit too much of this stuff at the Rent for my liking. Yeah, it happens everywhere. It just seems to happen more often here.

Ban beer sales.

Simple.

It'll never happen. But it would solve a lot of problems.

People generalizing. It's easy to do when you're outraged. Not that I blame them one bit for being outraged. I sure would be.

Although it's not nearly the first time we've heard visiting fan bases having problems with drunken UConn fans at the Rent over the years. And it seems to be worse at night games too. Alcohol, lack of security, whatever the culprit - these incidents just give the whole fan base a black mark in the public's eye. What's been done by the university to minimize these problems?

I agree that I don't like the bs. It's not cool. I would like to see more uniform presence. But how do you know that it "seems to happen more often here." Do you go to other venues?

Sure I've been to other venues. Never witnessed anything, and we don't see a lot of reports of it either.

okay, someone overreacting on a message board = jackass message board tough guy
someone assaulting a student from another school = criminal

as a cyclone fan i do not hold uconn, their athletic dept, or fans at all accountable for what happened, but this is a horrible thing, and it sounds like the response from the security at the stadium was one of indifference. i would hope that the school and its athletic dept would attempt to find out who did this and ban them from future sporting events as they do not understand what it means to be a fan.
