Sloppy start but we pulled away when Karaban took over at the end of the first half. That's the Alex Karaban that we need all year. I've missed UConn basketball!

My favorite parts (in no order)
  1. Samson turned the ball over on his first touch, and then immediately got a steal and fast break dunk. The Samson Johnson experience lol
  2. Again shoutout to Alex Karaban. Lights out shooting, amazing playmaking, and great defense. 7 blocks!
  3. Solo Ball or Solo Hawkins? Amazing shooting
  4. Liam airballed his first shot, then went for 12 first half points on 4-6 shooting. Second leading scorer in his first game, he will mature quickly
  5. Slow start for Tarris, but he dominated in the second half
  6. We are REALLY going to enjoy watching Ahmad Nowell play for us
1 down, 36 to go. Let's go Huskies!

My quick take aways:
1) Enjoy McNeeley this year - he won't be here next year. Total stud.
2) Incredible depth - just stupid the amount of players they can just sub in with no drop off
3) Reed > Johnson. He will be starting soon, I suspect
4) Alex - such a luxury to have a 3rd year player this good at everything

Doesn't mean much. Good effort. Our defensive rebounding was much better than the URI game. Nice we got to play so many players. There is a lot to clean up.

AK- The heart and soul of this year's Huskies, and played all-around game like all-American.
He makes Dan's job a lot easier with his wisdom, experience, and familiarity with offense sets.
McNeeley - A fearless young pup, scored a double double in his debut!
I see great things from our center Tandem with Tarris/Samson.

I've been saying it since the start of the summer, starting lineup- Mahaney, Ball, McNeeley, Karaban, Reed

Reed is a beast and he will soften up frontcourts. Samson comes in and rim runs for alley oops and blocks shots. I like the same infusion of energy for Hass off the bench to get after guards and push pace.

Karaban's career game, the shot blocking was crazy and he just knows everything we're trying to do out there. The shot looks great and he's handling more, had some nice playmaking. McNeeley is the most advanced freshman Hurley has ever had. He is basically a pro as a freshman and is uniquely advanced even for a 5 star. Solo is automatic and showed he can do it off movement. Those three guys are all pros. Reed is a beast, he's a space eater, he gobbles up everything on the boards and he has great footwork. Juwan was awful, Hurley is gonna turn Tarris into a pro when it's all said and done.

Not a good game for Mahaney and Hass but they'll be fine.

We're going to have a really nice shot at the three-peat if we are healthy.

1st impressions.

Sloppy early, but you can understand the jitters.

Karaban is the leader. Maybe obvious news but now we know for fact. We looked much better when he was in the game.

Diarra didn't impress. Either did Mahaney. We do not have a drop and drive point guard on the roster.

Tarris Reed outplayed Johnson. Johnson fouling out vs this quality team is a little worrisome.

Solo ball is legit. Mcneeley is legit but not a great defender.

Great having Uconn back. Looking forward to a great season.

Will keep it short. Was encouraged by Karaban's floor game and defensive intensity-- other than the blocks. Nice team scoring balance.

If the Reed/Johnson duo can consistently put up 20 pts/15 boards/5 blocks a game between them.. We are solid at the 5 and will be knocking on the door for the three peat. Everything else will fall into place.

Looks like Danny has their eyes on the prize.

Loved how aggressive both Samson and Hoss were on defense all over the court. I have no problem with them going ham in these early season games.

Yep, Samson committed a couple bad fouls but it is what it is. We have 10 fouls between both and if they are gonna be that disruptive, use em.

I know it’s Sacred Heart, but I’ll take 24pts/14reb/4blk/4stl from the 5 spot all year

The raw potential on this team is just absurd. In games reps, chemistry solidifying and a little Hurley magic and this team will be something else.

It’s fun at the top.

Don’t know what game people are watching but that was a great first game, it ain’t March. Reed a beast with great hands. McNeeley did defend and rebounded great and of course he can shoot. Solo is great already. Even Samson looked stronger.
Mahaney has to get in the flow. Alex shooting form improved too. Good first effort and SH was holding firm in the first half.

Ready for all the 180°'s on McNeeley after the URI over-reaction and for everyone piling off the Mahaney bandwagon (there is no coming back from a bad opener).
