I know this might have been discussed before, but how did Pikell get the 1 and 2 players in the class? I'm so confused.

Flagg is the #1 player in the class. They're 2 and 3.

I think the answer is going to boil down to money, luck, and relationships. He hasn't shown enough on the court to warrant those kinds of recruits.

Dylan Harper grew up in Jersey and his brother played at Rutgers so that at least makes sense. As for Ace Bailey, who the hell knows.
Bailey was teammates in high school and AAU with Jamichael Davis who's a sophomore at Rutgers. Obviously not the only reason but I'm sure it was a factor

I've heard this a bunch of times and I'm really confused by it. How can anyone say they got the top 2 players when Cooper Flagg is out there? I'm going to assume he reclassed at some point, but there is no world in which Flagg isn't the #1 recruit.

I don't really care as long as they underperform, which they will.

Adding two top recruits to a very good team, with a little luck, gets them to the Final Four, and in position to win it all.

Adding two top recruits to a < good team means the coach wants to build a contender with the two top recruits as a base. Which is laughable seeing as though these top recruits are guaranteed to be one and done.

I like Pikiell and hope he has some success as long as it isn’t head to head against UConn for a recruit or on the court.
Pikiell and an assistant coach who both coached or played at UConn put a post up claiming credit for money made by UConn players in the NBA and made it seem that there was some connection between the players and Rutgers since they were now coaching at Rutgers. Very low class and sleazy. JMHO

Yeah, well, sort of like like the Big Ten taking credit for all the UCLA Olympic gold medals in swimmings from past Olympics...lol

I think Bailey said he was a loyal guy and thru youth programs etc involving Rutgers his life was changed and he wanted to give back for all the support. Then his friendship with Harper and Harper's family connection to the program pulled Harper along. I think it is as straight forward as that.

That’s cool to hear. Loyalty is rare these days…

I don't think Pikiell is giving a thumbs up to every tweet the school posts

My guess is that people got used to saying Rutgers had the top two ranked commits, because Flagg took a while.
