do they have a chance of giving us a really good game?

Check out the UConn in the News link at the top of the page. Couple of good articles to get you up to speed re Rutgers.
And, no I don't expect Rutgers to challenge UConn.

I don't think CViv has the horses this year, and Rutgers defense hasn't been as stifling as it used to be. They are well coached on defense, I just don't think they can score enough to keep it competitive.

Yes they have a shot at giving UCONN a good game. Post and transition defense of Rutgers will not be able to keep up with UCONN and Rutger's best perimeter defender is hurt. Outside shooting of Rutgers is also suspect. Look for KML to bounce back in a big way.
This is much smaller and guess work on my part but after Ruters last win there was much celebration and dancing my take away " we have gone about as far as we are going to go this year. Might as well celebrate now."

There isnt a team in WCBB who can challange UConn this season and most likely next season. I expect UConn to win every game by 20+. Many teams have a go to player, UConn has 5. Many teams play good defense, UConns is much better. UConn has 2 terrific shot blockers, many teams dont have one. UConn has athletic height 5 great outside shooters quickness chemistry confidence and team work. End of Story. Honestly every body else is playing for second place and it aint even close.
I dont me to sound nasty but Im telling the truth.

Rutgers is a nine-loss team whose record against ranked-at-the-time squads is 3-7. Other losses were to unranked Michigan State and Ohio State. Best win was probably against Nebraska.

Bottom line, the B1G is a soft conference in WCBB and has been for a long, long time. That doesn't make Rutgers soft, but it does mean that they haven't played an opponent like UConn yet. And of course, the game is at Storrs...and so will I be. :)

I'm expecting a 25+ point win. Anything less would be a bit questionable performance to me, even though I'll happily take any win.

Always have to agree with you Tony. Except I think not many teams play good defense. Few have even a clue what defense is Geno-style.

RU is a much better scoring team than usual, with three players in the starting line-up (Copper, Scaife, Laney) all capable of scoring 20+. That being said, the defense, while still very good, is not exceptional, and the team's two defensive cogs are either hurting (center Hollivay) or injured and will not play (senior guard Syessence Davis, the Big 10's defensive player of the year, ranked 4th nationally in steals this year). The team also is not a huge threat from outside, though they had their most 3-pointers of the season (7) against SHU on Saturday night.

I wouldn't necessarily call the B10 "soft"--though both MD and RU have added toughness that wasn't previously there. There are a lot of scoring teams in the B10, and Ohio State should be very good for years to come with their freshmen.

Seton Hall could have won the game on Saturday. It was within one possession with about 4 minutes left.

I don't think that suggests that Rutgers is in a position to keep the margin of victory under 20 tonight (but anything is possible ...)

CViv ain't raisin' no roof tonight!!!!!!

Fans dont realize how great this UConn team is. If they left their starters in and didnt pull back the press, and didnt pull back on the fast break there is no telling how many points they would score. With that said Uconns numbers are under inflated. They could be much better and UConn still leads the nation in almost every catagory. Thats what amazes so much about this team. I had a couple of phone calls this week from Boneyarders saying how could UConn have lost to Stanford. I replied it was a fluke. Thats the only way UConn can lose other then key injuries or alot of foul trouble and UConn doesnt foul or if UConn forgot about the game and had to forfeit. LOL

Just to reply to Tony about the Stanford loss being a fluke - I agree to some extend, but really, in some ways it was a loss that was not surprising...

Several players had off games with Moriah having probably the worst game of her career. The freshmen, who we rely on so heavily, were still finding their way. It was a long trip in front of a hostile crowd. And Stanford had completely changed their offense and was running a much more guard oriented offense, and honestly I think the coaches need to take some of the blame as the team was not prepared to play defense against them. And lastly, I think Stanford played over their heads - a home game in front of a huge crowd against the best team in the nation - it was a huge game for them.

As much as I would have liked to have won and had our winning streak at about 75 games now, I think the loss was a good thing and really helped the team focus and improve more than if they'd won...

RU's defense is always good but I think this UCONN team is a step above. i don't expect a low scoring game (52-45 or something like that)

UCONN 82
Rutgers 50
