The 2008 Rutgers team was coming off an appearance in the championship game and was pretty salty. They were the only team to beat UConn in the regular season and played UConn really tough in the "rubber match" regional finals . Since then, the economy has tanked AND they've been mired in mediocrity, losing 13 games each of the past three seasons. Not a good combo.

"mired in mediocrity" is a great phrase. I am stealing it.

Alex, are you going to the Baylor game?

I actually live up in CT now (about 25 minutes from both Hartford and Storrs, actually), so Waco is too great a trek. Should be a great game, though.

It's only a little over 1500 miles, Alex, more or less.

When you're a single dad of a three year old and a two year old, that might as well be 15,000 miles. :)

And somehow Rutgers doesn't realize that the economy is bad as they continue to raise ticket and parking prices. We lost many season ticket holders in the lower level due to the price increases. A lot of people are opting to buy tickets for select games and sit in general admission. My seat in the lower level is $30 per game (with my staff discount)!

Wow... that could buy 2 Duke reserved tickets..... and no parking fees as well. That has to be among the highest in the country.

RU has stopped supporting women's basketball for some reason. Unlike UCONN, it is very difficult to watch their style of play and the level or quality of athletes has been down the last few years. There seemed to be a ton of Tenn fans to make it look respectable. UCONN is the only draw at the RAC and they only come every 2 years.........

CVivs game has gotten people turned off...........Hence, NO FANS........

A big problem for RU thus far as well is that there has only been one weekend home game all year. Considering that WCBB does a lot to attract families, that is a big issue.

UConn only drew 4700 last year which is below their game average of 2008 and 1600 fewer than Tennessee drew Are the days when Rutgers wouldn't make tickets available to UConn fans gone? Or maybe they still are employing this practice and hence the low attendance last year....kind of like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Where is Don Imus when you need him.
Viv probably thanks her lucky stars for Imus every day. Without him, I am sure she wouldn't have doubled her salary in 2008.
